I was just visiting my freind who gave me the koi, I took him a bottle of Wolff Blass and a nice cigar to say thanks and merry christmas. I know this is a Koi forum but I figured some folks here may also have other types of fish, so I am letting anyone who is interested know that there is a large fish auction on Sunday at the University of Guelph Arboretum. It is a Cichild auction but I was told there will be lots of aquarium related articles for sale trade or barter as well.
There will be uv sterilizers, fluidized bed filters, pumps air pumps etc...
If you want more info it is on the web at the Canadian Rift Lake Cichild Association.

Thanks for the posting. Yes fishy folks usually have more than one type of fish and many have Aquariums full of different types.

Man!!! sucks I will miss it! I adore cichlids.... and my 120US gal tank looks bare since the cardinal school was ... um... eaten !
Most often there are pond items up for sale/bid.... good deals.

I drove by there on Sunday on my way to Woodstock, with time on my hands to kill. Darn.
Was this a one-time event or do they hold it more often ?

Dave I am not really sure as I am not associated with the club, but just recently became friends with one of the head honchos(Tom Herman). You could do a google search on his name or The Canadian Rift Lake Cichlid Association or Cichlid Nation. These guys go on safaris to Africa where the fish are caught. I think it's lake Malawi and some other one(sorry not a cichlid guy yet)and they get shipments from there a few times a year. Tom lives here in Guelph and has about 400 aquariums set up in his garage. It's one of the coolest set-ups I have ever seen as it would put most pet stores to shame.. He is a super nice guy with a lot of cool stories. Check the web, give him a call and if you come to Guelph let me know we'll have a beer!

Tina and I are frequently back and forth to the London/Stratford area, and usually stop in at Phishi's place in Acton. Her and her husband run a small pond supply business from their home. We all should get together some time and hoist a few while we still try and figure out how to get the koi and snapping turtles outta her breeding pond....LOL
