I am sure thats what the headlines would have read.

I was so excited to see my replacment pump heading up the drive way in the brown chariot! the UPS man...my hero!!! So I delightfully skipped up to the pond with my NEW pump in tow! Unhooked all the peices of the old pump, pulled the new one out of the box, began screwing in the line...all the while DREAMING of water flow and oxygenation once again!!!!! prepared to get right in the pond there and set it place then plug it in!!!!
Then I noticed...there was a crack in the shell that covered the motor...just a hair line fracture....and my eyes followed it and were led to an area that should have had a "seal" on it, but no seal was there.....
I was floored...if I had plugged that sucker in I probably would have been immediately electrocuted as my toes or fingertips touched the water to move it into position...the motor, which is supposed to be sealed (for obvious reasons) is not......

Needless to say I am now packing up both Evovort pumps and going with a completely different model...can you say BAD TASTE in my mouth....the idea of flopping around on my pond's edge like a koi outa water is NOT the way I want to go....
i was thinking something more romantic...like choking on valentine candy? or terminal brain freeze from edy's chocolate silk ice creme....

Flutter you do have a wonderful way of expressing your self, I like it

So will they (the company) be refunding you your hard earned money so you can purchase another pump?

Sorry for the pump problems, but glad you're sharp enough to have caught a possible mishap!!

If you had a GFI you should have been alright.

disclaimer: that statement implies no warrenty by me that if you plug a defective pump into a GFI outlet you cannot get electricuted

GFI's have a little red and black test reset buttons, same as the ones in the kitchen and bathroom. Non GFI's have no buttons.

Flutter the GFI simply means that if there is a problem the electricity will cut out within seconds, your mains to the pond should have the same system. Good on you for spotting the faulty pump.:)
