Now that my water has gotten clear...it has turned green over night due to the algae...any suggestions?

I'm sorry Flutter,.... I don't quite understand? Your pond had been clear and now over night the pond's water has turned green?

Green water is typically a sign something is out of balance. Have you tested your pond's water parameters?(ammonia/nitrite/nitrate as well as pH and KH)
Have you had a heavy rain fall recently? Have your fish spawned? When was the last time the filter was cleaned? Did you happen to do a larger than normal water change? How much have you been feeding your fish and what is the water temperature? Are you using a UV clarifier on the pond?

Sorry more questions than answers. It's a good idea to find out the reason "why" and try to fix the problem from there. In the mean time you could set up an extra prefilter with batton to strain the green water, a bit labour intensive as the fine filter material needs to be checked/rinsed a few times a day.

No I don't have a UV clarifier and I have not checked the PH, unfortunately I don't know how to do that yet...its algae I am sure there are long green strands that are growing from the sides.

I did ad an algae killing plant yesterday....I am hoping to see a difference (I put in about 4 pounds of it so it should do something I hope).....

I will say wrote about the water being green my pump had kicked off, for whatever reason...and probably for up too 10 hours as I was away from home...now that the pump is back on...the water is signifigantly clearer...so maybe thats all it took...suprise to me that just in that short of time the pond could get so soupy!

My fish are not old enough to spawn yet either....

What is an algae killing plant? four lbs of it?

Yes it doesn't take long for the pond to cloud up without the filter. You may want to check yours to see if it is clogged as well. A bit of string algae is actually good in a pond. Feeds the baby fish, helps clear the water and acts as part of the bio filtration. Only when you get lots and lots do you need to worry.

OK, that at least i've heard of. Yes it will compete for the food with the algae but once it takes hold it may be as bad. It can be quite invasive.

Where you live it may overwinter fine, but for me it died and caused quite a mess in the bottom of the pond.

 sorry, I wish there were some realsimple answers to these problems.
