When a friend of mine closed his pond down, I was lucky to be able to purchase most of his Koi, when I went back to collect the last few there were two of each of the following fish, he informed me that they were bottom feeders and if he could not find a home for them he was going to cull them. :( . Well you know me, I could not let that happen. As I have recently thined out my pond I am planning to let these fish go in a local freshwater river , but before they go has anyone any idea what they are. ( lost contact with friend since his move so cant ask him) and I have never cought anything like them in my younger fishing days.

I will add that they do help with keeping the bottom of the pond free of uneaten food, and I got to say the second fish is rather prety. :) So I am pondering at the moment ( please excuse the pun) keep them or let em go. :???:

What's the chance they are a cross between a comet and a koi?

Not sure Busy B, he had a large mixture of fish in his pond, from Koi to Goldfish and I do believe he did have some commets in there too.

The top fish has a Trout like look to it but I am sure it is not, I have checked a number of fish books but still have had no luck in identifying them. :(

Could of been a spawn that resulted in those...

You do know it's a no-no to release fish into native waters don't you? Any chance of finding a home for them?

Probaly no to the new home , I was unsure on releasing them in to the river, at first that was where i thought they had come from  now I am not so sure.

Hard to tell from that angle but look like hybrids to me.
