pics of some plants I have in the little water garden. I'll take some more tomorrow when the other lily is open and see if I can't get some half-decent photo's of the fish in there too.

I've been having a heck of a time with aphids, they are really going to town on my water poppy :( so it hasn't bloomed at all. They are also all over the salvia, I have thown out so much of it but it just seems like the little buggers numbers increase the day after I go on a killing spree

So far no aphids but won't be surprised if they show up soon. Mind we have soooo many damsel flies I'm surprised there are any bugs in the garden at all.

The ladybugs and their larva keep the aphids in check on the other plants in the water garden... there are not aphids on the plants in the gardens. I think the poppy and lily pads are too close to the water for their liking :-(

Guess I need to charge my camera batteries. Nothing to do today but sit and wait for UPS to show up... - Ok well there are waterchanges to do LOL

I guess I have been lucky with having no bugs in the pond attacking my plants. What do you use to kill them in the pond? I have had my share of other bugs on my other plants. One I have never seen before attacking my double trumpets bad! I keep spraying them and hopefully can knock them down. My water poppy has around 20 blooms a day on them.

Wish mine looked like that Cin, yours is beautiful!

I kill 'em with my fingers,.. yup, I get in the water garden and start cruching the little buggers. The baby goldfish love it, they swarm around my hands eating the squished bugs. Got some pretty cool baby shubunkins this year

I wish I had gotten some fantail fry this year. But alas when Cinn spawned the peranas ate them up! When they spawn again maybe some will survive since the plants are doing so well. I did notice a few tadpoles in it last week. No matter what I do they get in there !bonk

My waterlilys in the stream were infested with aphids... Gave them a little PAM cooking spray... Aphids all gone.. Had an oil slick for awhile, but it got skimmed off eventually. !dude

Well no pics today, to hot to do much of anything....

I could take the poppy out and spray it, wash it off and put it back... never thought of cooking spray, which I don't have as Ian will attest too I rarely cook!!! LOL

I'm having a problem with my marsh marigold. It's almost dead, new sprots then the leaves turn brown and die. Did notice what looks like sand green and yellow and browns on the stems and underside of the leaf, didn't have a magnifing glass and my eyes are getting bad, I'll have to check later. Also my water hyacinths look like crap this year, all yellow and browning and dieing. Tried putting them in miricle grow overnight a few weeks ago, but it didn't help. I may have to throw them and look for new.

Marla as a general rule Marsh marigolds die back in the heat of summer and often return to bloom in fall, so I'd not worry about that plant. One of mine has disappeared altogether and the other is mostly black leaves... nasty looking and needs to be trimmed.

Never heard of cooking spray but can see how it would work.

My Dwarf Lotus has been covered in Aphids :(
Wish Lotus liked me, as much as Aphid seem to like them

Jackiee thanks for the info, hope that's all it is. I've been trying to keep all the dying stuff trimed back. And God knows we've had our share of heat this year. Sprinkled again last night and this morning, hope it clears up I have stuff I can do. Did put the best looking hyacinths in some miricle grow again, most I just threw they look so awful this year.

Marla I am hoping for rain. I watered the front bed for an hour yesterday and we had a shower this morning but when I went to plant the butterfly bush it was dry as dust.... not good at all.

Pond plants like land plants hav their seasons and some like the marsh marigold die down and come back, had to keep track fo the darn things sometimes, Hawthorne dose the same.
