Pretty damned big! Its the mud ponds that make them grow so fast. Never seen anything like it.

Well the main purpose in life for these guys is to be company for Tweet over the winter, after that they will need new homes. Let's face it, most people do not want a meter long fish in their ponds and are happy with fish 20 inches or less.

The babies got greenwater squeezings this morning and frozen brine shrimp so they are full now, if they are ever full.

BTW a question for you. A couple of them seem to have stomachs that stick out way past the area that it should. I figure this is either still a bit of egg sack not absobed as yet or perhaps they are just pigs or is this a deformaty?

I had quilt batting in the skimmer to help clear the green water caused by the spawning, so I squeezed the batting for the concentrated green water algae and added that to the aquarium I have 8 1/4 inch fry in. They loved it and started eating it right away. The tank water is now cloudy and a bit green but the fry seem happy enough. They also got frozen brine shrimp and some crushed pellet for a varied diet.

Yes, Smith and I are quite enjoying the little devils, but as Keifer and I were discussing these will never grow as big as the ones left in the pond. Something in the pond gives them an edge that can not be replicated in a tank. Still I shall try to give them the vitamins and protien they need and enjoy watching them develop

Thanks for the pics Keifer...I too only have dial up

How many gallons is your mud pond and how do you keep the netting so taut?
