As most of you know......my pond has been a chocolate brown with green, for a few weeks after something drained most of my pond and I had to refill. The brown coming from the good algae on the sides that died and flaked off (my pond is 15' x 15' and it was down almost 3 ft - thats lots of dead algae). The green is the green pea soup from adding new water.......the pond has been a mess. (Gary said, when the fish were spawning - that it looked like hot chocolate with whipped cream on top).
I have been cleaning my big mechanical filter every other day, and I put in a sump pump with the hose going to the bottom of my shop vac filled with batting - and have been cleaning that every day. I couldn't even see the lily pots 2 ft down.....depressing.
Last week, I ordered some koi clay from Gene......and it came yesterday. As soon as I got it, I put in a dose and a half - HOPING it would start somehow clumping some of the fines floating around.
Well, this morning, I went out, and could not only see the lily pots, but could make out the 4 rocks I have in each corner to help keep the liner down during high water in the spring.
Miracle - its a miracle.
I added another normal dose, and will do another in 2 days. I cleaned the filters...they were worse then normal, and will shop vac Sunday when I have a day off.
Thank you Gene......I will be ordering another patch to keep on using.

I dumped in a triple dose last night but so far no real results.. <sigh> my green water is from the spawn and probably the water changes. Mind it is no worse today... and it had been getting worse each day. So off to clean the skimmer and change the batting.

Good for you that you got such good results. Mind I don't think you would have had you not done the work before hand.

Clay is quite useful, glad it seems to be working to help out Karyl.

Not totally clear yet, lol.......but can see the bottom.
Had a bad storm, and my pump stopped working for 2 days - have no idea why - but suddenly it started working again. Need to get in there and shop vac, hoping it don't rain all day Sunday. Been hard getting around - fell, and sprained my ankle and pulled some ligaments in my leg - so am having a hard time doing things, lol.
And to top it off.......the goldies are at it again.........enough is enough,

I agree, give th leg time to heal.

Finally had rain here last night, about 2 inches, first in 6 weeks. The plants don't look happy currently as they have been knocked down but I'm sure they will feel better later.
