Zippedee do da zippedee da, I got myself 3 Buterfly Koi :) always wanted some and now I got them . :) Will post some pics as soon as I can, and pics of the boat pond too ( Sory for the delay). I have looked in all the fish places for ages yet no one stocks them, someone on a UK forum posted a mesage for me telling me of a place I could get them that was local to me. So today I took a drive out and came back with three :).

Luke I have always wanted a couple of Butterflys for the pond, but in the area I live no one seems to stock them. :( I was recently informed of a place some 20 miles from me that had them , so went out and purchased three. :)
I did take some photos but they have come out blurred , so will take some more and post them.
Jackie I check on Koi reflections most evenings, but if there is nothing that I can add to the posts I just have a good read . :frisbee:

Congrats on the new wet pets Merlin
Have times changed and people are more accepting of longfins? I know I like to watch them swim  I saw a site that was selling mature butterflys and they were in the 2K range

congrats on the new fish. I've looked at them, but they look so fragile, like they'd tear all those long fins, I was worried to get any.

Marla, they do tear their fins but the fins heal up quite quickly. To watch them swim is a true ballet though.
Not in my eyes Jackie, more like a kid running mad with big PJ,s on . We do have one in our pond that is growing on me and a number of small one's I would not mind seeing grow for a few years. Very popular these days and see better quality butterfly/longfins to come. I'm amazed at how strong the fins actually are as we feed at least 100 butters in a tank and they pile and flip all over not tearing any fins. Let some parasites or the water Q go down and their fins show signs quick. I am always impressed to see a large one with it's fins in full glory as it shows a good fish keeper.

Ian I think the little guys fins are more flexible but GG is always tearing her fins, or I'm tearing them for her :-x . Too my eye she is one ugly fish until she moves then its a different ballgame she becomes lovely.
Truthfully I like her babies fins, not as long as hers but a bit longer than regulation... blasphamy!!
