We will be going to our first Koi club meeting on Saturday with Ralph and Diane Bates. Ralph said Brett will be there also. I believe it is the MKK Club. It should be a lot of fun. Ralph said we could learn a lot. So we are there :)

Koi clubs can be a lot of fun. Nice folks and a change to learn and share interests. Wasn't Martin doing a photo seminar at that club???

I will say this... Martin may never come to visit again, the filter could have waited a week... shame on you !bonk
I'd have gone if the pond was draining!

martin's pics are very well focused.
But BRETT!
YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT. YOU WILL NEVER GET AROUND A MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND INTERTAINING KOI PERSON EVER AGAIN..... UNLESS YOU SEE BRETT NEXT YEAR AND HE IS SMARTER AND FUNNIER AFTER BEING ANOTHER YEAR ON THE VINE

Luke Brett really is a classic! I enjoyed my trip down there so much. He is a riot! I am looking forward to seeing him again. I try to soak up everything he says. I sent him an email and told him to be prepared because I was coming Saturday

We did go to the Meeting. It was so informative. I learned so much. I was like a sponge soaking everything up! I was told this was a learning club. I believe it. One guy that did his talk is a member. He is the ONLY non-Japenese accredited Koi Judge in the world!! He knows his stuff. He did his talk on how to tell a good Kohaku and what to look for in young fish. I even took a notebook and took notes. He kept looking at me in the meeting. He would stop and ask if anyone wanted to stop. I wouldn't say a word and just look around. I was so engrossed I could have listend for hours to him. One person made the comment about how interested I was in it. I said, "Did it show?" !rofl She said Oh yes!! They also told me that the guy is thrilled when someone is that interested and that is why he kept going on and on. I was sure hoping someone wouldn't say they had enough
We bought 4 raffle tickets and I won 3 gifts :) I won a pond windsock, a fish statue, and floating silk water lillies. I had to friends think they were real!
Luke Brett was there. The first thing I told him was, "No I didn't feed my faded fish to my cat!" He said you need to so I could come down and pick an other one haha.

Jackie I don't remember. I am horrible with names but I am going to find out.
I just found his name. It is Ron Goforth.

Sounds like a wonderful time! We have no pond clubs here locally. I believe the closest is at least 90 minutes away. :(

Bonnie we had to drive about an hour and a half. All their meetings are in the Houston area. I don't know how many of the others we may get to make as a lot are over 2 hrs away. It gets very hard for me on trips sometimes. It was fun :)

Even if you can't make every meeting it never hurts to join the club. Some of our members are quite distant but make a couple of meetings a year.
