No sign of eggs as yet but a few broken stems off the plants floating around this morning... Just practise runs I guess.

No, I am having a reprive. That was only a practise run I guess, no eggs I can see as yet. A few split fins now.... but no eggs. Temps have dropped considerably so I think they may wait a bit longer.

Mine are to young to witness the miracle of birth

Are the eggs easy to see?

Jackie Ramo

Oh yes easy to see and there are normally millions of them.... or maybe that's only when GG spawns :) Not to metnion the white foam and funky smell... things mom never told you about

My only experience with eggs is when daughter shows what her goldfish have done or gutting a salmon...*sorry if I offended anyone for saying the word gutted*

Salmon eggs are pretty large...are koi the same?

Yes, they are easily seen even with these old eyes. I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between koi and goldfish eggs, or salmon for that matter.

How old does a koi/goldfish need to be.. Mine were feeders last year, could they spawn this year? They sure place chase alot...

Goldfish I think are born ready to spawn!! so if they are chasing each other I think you will have babies for sure this year. Koi in warm climates mature earlier but mine are 3 year old before they spawn.

My shubby used to be the frisky one..koi were still too young to figure out why he was chasing them relentlessly. Have a couple comets but no action there. OK with me tho

Well with foldfish one is seldom lonely!!

Temps are going to warm up big time today so we will see if there is any action tonight. Have to net Spice as I can see some sap on his injured side.

Your pond looks great Jackie!!! And yes it is time to spawn again   lol
Mine started last week...no eggs as well, thank goodness..
I have babies now from three years spawning and I am lucky I have homes for the bigger ones ha ha...still can keep the wee ones for a bit ..love to watch them grow.
Great news about your pond in the news! Good work Jackie

Sal, how good to see you here.

Mine keep pretending to spawn but so far all I've seen is a couple of big plugs that look like absorbed eggs from last year... talk about the horns of a delima, on one hand I don't want a spawn but on the other GG needs the relief from carrying all that weight, she is now lopsided... poor thing.

post some pics of the the pond !!!!

Casper is like a reverse GG who looked like that when I first got her but she has oranged up all over now and may lose her white face soon.
