Gotta brag , as if I really did anything but apply water and very little TLC

The iris is Superstition ... really really black but when photographed shows a lot of blue you don't see up close and personal.

The Epiphyllum opened late last night, I am confused and think it might be a night bloomer ... we'll see if it closes today ... maybe it's confused!

Jackie,
The only thing I grow really well are WEEDS!

PM me your address and tell me how to ship iris to you, I think I'm going to thin that iris you wanted in the next week or so 'cause it's finished blooming.

They're in gravel so I just cut a piece of the rhizom with a fan, trim the fan and ???. How do I disinfect or should I just leave that to you? Got to remember to stick apiece of Epi in too.

Jackie, I got your info but my plans have changed. A friend invited me to go to Palm Springs for a long weekend ... her treat! Let me think ... weekend in back yard weeding in 95 to 100 * weather ... or Palm Springs in an air conditioned 2 room suite, pool , spa, jacuzzi ...oh yeah... 105 to 109* but pool, spa, misters on all over the place, long cool drinks, pool, spa ... I'll get to the iris next week

Wow Charla, those are great blooms. Love that Iris, don't think I've ever seen one that dark! And that Epiphyllum, never seen that one before. I think I'm going to have to get to the garden center this weekend and see what I can find. Weather is supose to be nicer, but maybe rain again Sun. Problem here is the nights have still been cold, in the 40's, hard for anything to want to start growing. All of May except a couple days has been below normal temps. June is right around the corner, maybe I'll get to see some growth then

I haven't seen that particual iris around here but mail order would work. Try Buds, they usually have good selections. Vandermeer's may have it if it is readily available. There is another black iris but I cant remember the name of it.

I lost a lot of iris to iris borer last year, had to dig them all out to get rid of it. Fish liked to eatt hem but they are ugly things... and creepy!!

There is a garden center chain near us called Stien's, this week they had a coupon special on iris $1.99 (normally $5.49) so I went, they are small but they had the superstition one there, forgot my coupon so I'll go back today they had a limit of 6 so I'll see what else hits my fancy. Jackie I know there is another iris that is very dark it is called "Before the Storm", is that the one you are thinking of?

Before the Storm ,Dark Passion, Hello Darkness and lot's of other beautiful Iris can be found at http://www.schreinersgardens.com/

I think I got Superstition at Lowe's or Home Depot, I'm going to share some with Cinnamon and might have a little more, but if you see it cheap pick it up.

Hey,
My Blue Flag Iris's both have blooms on them, I am so excited, first time in three years for them to have flowers.

Our temps are still about 20 degrees below normal here. Supposed to continue all week. Is spring ever coming to the Northeast? It is in the low 50's here again today!

Chuck it is cold here as well. Says rain but it isn't raining just cold windy and cloudy and the garden sure could use the rain. This is the worst of all weather and the garden is still thirsty..

Funny today as I was going out I noticed I had some iris about to bloom, the funny part is I don't remember planting any there but there is a fair size stand of them...

I did go back to the garden center this time with my coupon, and picked up 2 Superstiton, a Pink Horison (the beard is gold), 2 Rave On ( a bright tangerine orange) and a Saturday Night Live (a ruby red). They are small each has 4-6 leaves, but what can you expect for $1.89. Don't think they will do much this year but maybe next year I can get some blooms. Planted all around the pond area, along with some purples and yellows I transplanted. I have done alot of transplanting and buying to get the gardens around the pond done. I'll give it 3 yrs to fill in.

Sounds like some good buys there Marla. I doubt you will get blooms this year but if they settle in nicely they'll bloom for years to come.
