Okay....just remember where and who you heard this from....i only wish i had stocks in this company because their sales are going to go through the roof.
D-SOLV by the Winston company is an amazing product. You sprinkle it on and right before your eyes the stuff bubbles up and dies. Net out all the stuff when it floats up...awesome !!!
It's best done on a hot sunny day, shut off your pump and let the water calm. Sprinkle it on the waterfall, the sides...even on plants (i tried it on mine) and i swear...it just bubbles up and dies...so cool!!! If you don't net out the dead stuff you get a lot of dead algae fluff. This is where a pond vac would be perfect. I did my pond a month ago and it's still looking great. Oh...and it safe for fish and other creatures.
Not sure if it's available everywhere but you should check around at your local pond place and try it. One container does 20.000 gallons and is in the $35 price range.
Now...to go see if i can buy shares in their company

Terri I found it in a couple of places on the internet. It is $19.95 for the bottle that does 20,000 gallons! I am off to order it for sure!

ADI has another product that they are pushing called Eco blast, does the same thing.
One warning, anything that makes a huge change in the pond all at once is not always a good thing... Algae is not necessarily a bad thing and in some ponds acts as part of the bio. Fish eat it and fry will not survive without it.
If you feel it necessary to use this type of product do so with caution and remove all dead algae immediately. Then test the water daily!!!

Right now I can deal with the little bit of string algae that I have.
I try my best to stay away from chemicals but I really think that I would have tried this sometime in March when my pond was FULL of all kinds of algae.
Truthfully I don't want anything to kill the good algae which I currently have and definately don't want to take anything away from the biofilter.
IF one was to use this, wouldn't it be best to use mainly when you are first opening your pond and filtration system?

I think that is someone had a section of the pond or if they had a stream that was clogged this would be a option but I'd rather deal with the algae I have. I find the clay did a good job for me, killed the algae over a week but then the check valve failed and the filter drained into the pond and now... well as soon as it warms a bit more, it will get another clay treatment. At least I know the clay is good for the fish  Still better string algae than green water!!

We can't keep it on the shelf. It's shocking how much people are talking about D-Solv. I wish I knew more about it, but I don't. I have been told it's great for Aquascape type ponds. I guess I will have to test some on customers ponds.
Sorry I don't add much of anything to my pond. If it's built right you don't need these type of products. Food, Pond Clay, Koizyme and water goes in my pond.

Terri, i wish i knew....i would copy it. I have only one pond that gets the string algae because the fish aren't that big. For that pond it was a life saver...it sure was starting to look gross before using it.
Jackie, i agree. Algae is good and i don't want a sterile pond/pool but in some cases you just have to do something. I have some customers that have had fish get caught in it and die. When your pump gets clogged constantly and the waterfall looks like an old green shag carpet....it's time to do something.
With anything, use it in moderation but just know that if you want to nuke some off, it will and quickly too...gotta like that!!
Of course the price i quoted was Canadian dollars and was just an average price. Even if it was $50 i bet people would still buy it.

I may not use it in my pond but I was thinking about my fountain in the yard. Right now I am using a peroxide based product for swimming pools. It is the only thing I can use that won't kill the birds. It sounds like this might be even better. When I clean it I have to restart the pump several times as it gets clogged so easily. What I use is liquid and more expensive than that!

100% natural and safe bacteria and enzymes Just my nature but I'd like to know what these are... LOL I found this statement reffered to most of their products but not a lot of information about each product including D_SOLV
I see on the package it says "oxygen powered" ...? I assume this is what makes the "bubble effect"..?
By looking at Winston's product list, they seem to have a fix for everything...

Question, I've been reading up on koi clay after seeing it in a thread somewhere. Any way is there a difference in it, there are so many sites selling it (can't find it at a local store, YET) is one better then another or should I just go with price (being the thrifty person I am)

Marla, there are several products on the market. TomC and I had a thread about it a while ago and search should turn it up.
Tom carries several types at his site
