I have one rule at my house. It's NO SWIMMING IN THE POND. But some times rules have to be broken. My daughter kept telling me she wanted to go swimming in the pond before adding the koi to it. It was about a year ago when I filled it for the first time. So what the heck, let her have fun. At the time of these pictures the pond was only about 60 degrees, but she still want to jump in, so she could say she swam in the pond. The swimming didn't last long, but she had fun.

Tom great pics! She looks very athletic! I have a 5 yr old Nephew who kept wanting to get in the pond. So when Heiko and my BIL put the liner in the first time, he ran home and changed clothes and got in. He told his Dad they needed his help!

I think kids need to have fun with this hobby also. It is very important for them also to have a fish they can on their own. My daughter love to help me everytime she can get a chance. If it's from feeding the to helping with health problems, she want to be right by my side. She has even helped inject koi before. Her goal in live at this time is to be a vet.
Please don't let her hear the word athletic. All she will do is smile all day. One of her true loves in life is soccer. She's on a club soccer team and they seem to play every weekend. Soccer seems to take over our life at times, but as long as she likes it, we like it.
Any picture of your nephew in the pond?

Great Camera shots !wow! . When I first built my original pond we had a BBQ to celebrate it being finished. The only things that went in the pond that day were three of our guests  . Well my sister-in-law was complaining all afternoon that she was too hot , so it seemed like a good idea to cool her off, :) she was not amused . The other two guests thought it was a great way to cool off.

Terrific pics Tom
Our oldest son Rhyce has been "swimming" a few times to help Ian with the drain cover, etc... and it's usually when the water is 60 degrees and Daddy doesn't want to get wet! LOL Our kids too are pretty interested in what is what with the koi, they help with all sorts of stuff... from unbagging koi to netting.

Great Shots!!! A lovely girl Tom. I'm sure she is a great helper unlike my hubby who tends to wander off just as I need that extra hand...
Amber the blind an deaf poodle has been swimming a couple of times this year. We've had to block off the access to keep her out. The only human swimming in my pond is me, slipped on Wednesday... oh well not the first time and no there are no pictures. Let me tell you though, it was cold at 62F!!! Most visitors here are nervous of the fish so no one wants to swim. Floating paper boats to skimmer is fun for the kids though.

Tom my kids are all grown and gone for some time now. When they were young I have a firm belief that sports is excellent for kids. The busier you keep the kids the less boredom and trouble they get into. Of course it made for a hectic life with 4 kids, 2 yrs apart! I think it did wonders for them. And now they even thank me for it. At least my son who is the eldest. Hard to believe he is now almost 32! ooopss I am telling my age now! !rofl

Great selection of pics Tom! That had to put a smile on your face.
Kids in general will chew up your life but that's half the fun of having them..you never have to worry about something to do.
She didn't jumpstart your filter, did she?
