I think I have a fry in my pond. The only time I have seen it is on the camera. It is either a goldfish or a tadpole. I don't think it is a tadpole. It is staying under the water poppies where there is little current. I still have not seen it in the pond. It is probably and inch or so long. On the camera it shows to be white. I hope I can spot in the pond soon!

How old are your fish? Did you see spawning activity?
It would be cool to have a baby... Specially for Mommy's day

Busy B it is my Fantail Goldfish. They are 2 yrs old now. It looks white on the TV but that could be the LEDs on the underwater camera. I still have not seen it in the pond. It is hiding under my water poppies. I did get in there and do some cleaning today and tried not to disturb that area very much.

Tom as soon as I can see it in the pond! Where it stays by the camera is calm area of the pond. And the water poppies make a nice cover. It looked a little over and inch long. I can't wait to see it myself! :)

OK...that explains it..I thought you were thinking you had a baby from your new koi
DD has tooooo many goldfish and they are always "at it"...the eggs that don't get eaten end up in the filter and then she'll try to save those 'eyelashes' A few of the babies she has grown up and some how they end up in my tank..one has deformed gill plates but she won't put them down, no matter how fugly they are..

Busy my Koi are a couple years away from spawning. Thank goodness! And tonight I was adding water and finally saw the baby. And to my surprise there are 2 of them! YEA! Heiko was surprised I could see them with my bad eyes  I hadn't seen it on the camera since Sat. I was worried me getting in there cleaning disturbed the baby and it wound up in the skimmer. I saw something fluttering in front of one of the submersible lights. I got closer. I took a flashlight and shined in the pond. It disappeared! I turned the light off and there is was. Then all of a sudden I saw 2 of them. They are tiny. I bet they are not 1/2" long! They are hidding in the water poppy plant for sure. It is in the corner and the current is minimal.

Okay Jackie bite your tongue! Whatever babies survive I plan on giving them away. I have friends and a Niece who want the Fantail Goldfish :) We haven't even finished this one yet! !rofl

Well you know how these things go, first there is the need, then the plans then the budget then the work. I figure by letting you be aware of the need, the rest will follow :frisbee:

Well the babies is not babies :( Last night we got as glass and tried to catch some of them that were close. We were seeing a bunch. They swim like the Fantails and has a tint of red. Guess what they are? I would take the glass to the shop and by the time I would reach the shop and a good light, they would float to the top, spread wings and fly!! It is those dern flies hatching!! You would think the Koi would eat them before they got wings. So I was diappointed but alas we didn't really need babies right now

 But really it tells me the fish are not very hungry if they are letting these nice healthy snacks escape.

Jackie when I don't feed them they suck algae all the time! I couldn't tell if they were eating them or not. There was such a flurry of activity with us trying to catch one. I had a friend come over was going to take a couple home with her! !rofl She changed her mind!

It is natural for them to forage, alfter all mom nature doesn't come by with a handful or two of food 3 times a day so their stomachs (or not) don't hold much food all at one time.
