My yellow and white Butterfly Koi is tu7rning black!

The first pic was taken 4-15-05. It has never had any hint of any black anywhere on it's body. In a little over 1 week she is turning black. I couldn't believe my eyes! Talk about a fish changing in 1 week this definitely has changed dramatically. She gets darker every day. !wow!

Hi, My yellow is also turning black. When I bought it one year ago there wasn't any black at all, now its about half covered.

The markings (dark inner colouring of the scales) can take time to appear in young koi... gives a nice reticulated pattern in nice quality fish.

Terri thanks for the pics! I was wondering how it would color out with the black. I didn't know if it would retain any yellow or not. The second pic looks just like mine except I have noticed black at the eyes also. If it colors out like the last one that would be great! THANKs so much for uploading the pics! :smile:

Tweet is a yellow matsubi, nasty things, get rid of them as soon as you can find homes for them :lol:

After this then I realize spot is a matsura butterfly koi also. He has always been black and white. Here is Spot!

I got a yellow matsuba last year...it's grown quite a bit and doesn't have a name..I was thinking lemon drop...hubby says..you mean Goldie? :lol: Pretty original don't ya think?

Busy guess what I named my yellow one?? Blondie! First I said Goldie then changed it the next day. I liked Blondie better. I guess it will still be blondie of sorts :lol:

Yeah, that's the look you get as you are feeding him and he comes up and you think he will take food from your hand and all he does is splash you and spread the food everywhere so he doesn't have to come near you to eat. Grumpy yes, but in a smart way :)

Jackie that sounds just like Hercules! He has only eaten from my hand twice. He will come up by my hand, look at me. splash and haul butt! :lol: They do have quite the personalities. Of course non-koi people think we are CRAZY!!
