Spice although eating and seeming fine still has some red on his side and his scales have not laid flat since they stood out a couple of weeks ago. Sorry in spite of taking a ton of pics none of them really shows how bad his side looks. Although it doesn't look terrible it just doesn't seem to be healing the way I think it should.

I've been dropping the temps in the pond as I want to get these guys outside ASAP so temp is 60F

These are better pics of his side. Terri thinks he will lose the scales, I'm thinking there may be something more going on there. Any comments or idea appreciated, I hope to move them this weekend back to the big pond. Spice could stay in.

I didn't see that! Mind he wouldn't come up close enough... I think you should net him, knock him out, take pics (real close up) and treat the areas with iodine for now. See if you can't get a pic of what the skin looks like unde the raised scales...

It looks better as I said but here is a pic from April 28th I must be getting better at taking pics, this one is not that good.

Jackie, will you do a biopsy on him during the move? Didn't he have his scales sticking out really bad earlier this year? Allen

This is the same thing, they have never gone completely down. The redness etc, has left but the sides still look nasty. Now he eats and swims and acts healthy enough. I can get a better look when I move GG out. Her tail is weak and I don't want to chance her bashing it around again.

Well sometimes the best laid plans go to crap. I think I'll blame Terri :frisbee: after all she said knock him out and treat him.

Anyway I caught him and put him in a tub of oil of clove this afternoon... he would not go to sleep... so I added more clove oil, finally he rolls over right over upside down, OOps says I, and take him out to place him on the towel. I am using two hands but as I place him I remove one hand to smooth the towel - He took that second ot wake up and jump, hitting the side of the tub bouncing and then hit the side of the pond and fell in... Here's evidence that I should not be allowed to handle fish.

BTW I put iodine on his wounds and returned him to the main pond with his buddies. He woke up completely in less than two minutes and 30 minutes later came to eat..... fish, gotta love them

Geez Jackie, sorry to hear this. Hopefully the iodine will do the job.

Bonnie I hope so as well. The new damage is right where the old damage was so I can't see if there was anything further wrong with him, which is why I was handling him to begin with.... Still he looks happy this morning in the big pond so I expect he will heal. Even came to hand to eat so there are no hard feelings. I do expect he will lose all those scales though.

They all seem better now, even the others netted and salted look better today. Certainly everyone is hungry.

One hopes they perform well tomorrow as the local newspaper is coming to take their pictures.

OK, so he will have to come out and be treated this afternoon. Noticed a bit of Sap on his side this morning when he came from breakfast.

I'm going to try a proform C dip.
