OK GG's tail got broken when I was moving her inside. How exactly I am not sure but I will take the blame for it. After a couple of days the broken piece fell off... looking very nasty but the tail seemed to be healing. Now after knocking the filter hoses around and off sometime last night or this morning I see that her tail has yet another broken ray.

There is also the red streaking that has never gone completely away.

You're having quite the time of it aren't you? Sure would be easier if we didn't have winter to deal with.

Yes, and I was all set to put them outside but the oustide temps have now dropped so thy have to stay inside. I think the next couple of rays are going to tear off as well. I don't know what to do about it. Can't be nice having your tail break off in bits and pieces. She sure will look funny with no tail though.
If I was worried about doing even more damage I'd glue the tail together. Maybe when I have to handle her to put her outside I'll try that. Same with Spice, I'd like to treat his side but GG goes nuts when I put the net near the pond so again as I don't want to damage her I'm leaving him to his own devices....

I didn't see any raised scales on Spice, maybe it's an optical illusion - Sugar looks to me like her scales are raised sometimes but it's just the colouring that makes it look so.
Gg's tail is sure to grow back, and I think you should get those big fish out of your greenhouse pond soon!

Trust me, sSpice has raised scales on both sides and one side is pink. Bad pics in spite of me taking 50 of the stupid thing... GG's tail is worse and the red streaks arestill there... I'd put them out as soon as outside hits 58F, they are 60F inside now. but outside was 52F this morning and nothing but cold and rain for a week.... I hate spring.....

Poor baby, would be nice if you could just call them over and pick them up like a dog or cat, would make it a bit easier on everyone. My pond has been below 50 for some days now, the fish have taken to hiding in their caves again, and don't even come out looking for hand outs even if you are standing there. It's May I NEED WARMTH!!!!!!

I spent this morning scraping and scoping but coming up with nothing.... Mind several fish had red streaks and Alice was flashing like mad this morning.. I hate fish!!! I streesed poor Bullet until he bled from the gills and 3 scrapes turned up nothing but his tummy had some red streaks whether from illness or stress impossible to say. Water is too cld to treat anything anyway...

If your not showing anything with the scrapes is it possible it's the cold temp swings?

Maybe but I 'feel' there is something and my gut is never wrong. Whatever it is is temp sensitive as they seem fine in colder water once it gets above 55F I get flashing. Every one is eating or interested in food on the days they are not fed. The red streaking in the fins is worse today than yesterday. Two days ago Bullet the saragoi spent the day clamped on the bottom and has one reddish fin. Oddly enough that fin seems better today than yesterday and he is up and about looking quite smug until netted, squeezed and turned upsdie down and all around and then scraped 2 x's. Good slime coat, but not excessive, gills looked good and he's strong like bull. Handling by myself is a challenge so no pics. Hubby went to make a living.

Maybe an internal infection? Not like I know what I'm talking about but what about med food? Oranges for a little C?

Busy, if they all have an internal infection I'm in big trouble. Not impossible but they would not come to eat and would not be browsing through the algae or be as active if they had infections. It may just be cold water stress, but I've never been that lucky.
New test kit and everything tests fine. The KH was low so that is now fixed and sits at 120. A water change tomorrow and maybe another fish to torment.

I'm one to follow my gut instinct too Jackie, but the more you fuss the more likely you will end up with "something" to treat... it's most likely that the warmer water and algae photosynthizing is causing the odd flashing.
If anything "buggy" it's flukes, a few just causing an itch - wait until the water warms up more and stays above 55F(over night) then hit them with some supaverm.

I treated for flukes during the last warm spell....I have had flukes every spring since I moved to this house. Never at the other house.... More migrating birds is all I can think off. Inside guys got treated as well.
Alice flashed 6 consecutive times this morning, no one else. I've been waiting and waiting for the weather to change but if the fish don't start acting right I may pp the pond.
Does the word Ich mean anything to you??? Couldn't find it this morning though.

Bullet the fish I scoped today is clamped and on the next to bottom shelf again... He was like that for 2 days and had come up and was moving around looking for food... Mind the ice pellets etc. didn't help. I'm wondering where I'd put him if I have to bring him in. Maybe the jucuzzi tub?

Bullet is up and swimming this morning so the plan to bringhim in is delayed. He was well enough to beat the other fish to the slugs this morning so I assume he's feeling fine.
