Here is a pick of my first bloom! The bud came out of the water yesterday. At 7:30 am this morning it looked like it was trying to split open. At 9:30 am when I fed the fish you could see white with red in the center. And now before noon it has opened up. The sun has washed out some of the color. I will take a pic when it gets dark and upload it as well!

It sure is a lot differnet thatn before eh? The underwater camera looks awesome day or night! It really is pretty at night with all the green lights in the pond. You can see each little pebble on the bottom!

Looks wonderful Pam :-) I can't wait to see some of my lily pads hit the waters surface... they are still sulking with this cold weather we're having.

Okay I have a newbie question here. When it got dark the bloom closed up. I mean completely closed up. Is this normal? I told Heiko he wouldn't get to see the bloom full out until Saturday at this rate. By the time he got home it had already closed the center red with yellow up. I was just wondering if that is the way they do.

Yep , they close up in the evening and on really cloudy days. Night bloomers start to open about the time the hardies close up for the night. Sure is a pretty lily.

Beautiful! :) The first two leaves hit the surface this week on mine, parrots feather is starting to grow and the water actually tested at 60* today...
Maybe, just maybe........
Drawback, still cloudy and a thunderstorm this afternoon... %(

Yes a night bloomer or two are a must in a pond if you are at work all day. A lot of them are fragrant.

Thanks all I was so excited. I looked on my Texas Dawn and it has a bloom about 10" under then another one coming up also. It is only about 3" tall right now. I was so thrilled. I did order some more parrot feathers. I received them today. I am going to float 2 just in front of the new waterfall then 2 by the bridge. That way a lot of the water on that end will be under shade. The fish love to stay under the parrot feathers.
They missed their am feeding this morning. I had to go to Houston to the Dr. They were starved by the time I got back around 12:30 pm. Now they are all happy and the bloom is back open :)

Well, I got to see the new bloom in daylight! Had a run up north and made sure I would pass by the house on my way to the office. That is neat the way those things close up at night.
.... back to work here.

So nice, mine are just sending stem leafs, I don't even remember what kind we put in (that's so sad) all I know is one is white, one is pink, one is yellow. I'd like to get more, they didn't seem to do much spreding, I put in some fertalizer tabs this spring, maybe that will help. Bought some parrots feathers, another iris (had one freeze out) and a curly reed. Still hardening my tropicals, out in the day in the garage at night. Tonight rain again, maybe snow flurries. This morning everything had frost. Sure hope my lilac hedge row doesn't freeze out like last year, that was so sad not being able to see and smell them. Hope the warmth comes soon.

Marla you are colder than us but we are cold as well with lots of rain. Sun today so out to the garden but the weekend is supposed to be in the 50ish range with rain... I decided my plants would have to tough it out in the greenhouse for a few days Problem is its soohot in there and thencold when Imove them out. It takes me an hour tomove them all out an dthenanother hour to move them all in again. I need a system
