I'm so excited I feel like a new mother... my Epi finally bloomed ! Walked out to feed the wet pets, turned around and there it was !wow! I have been watching that bud for weeks. There are several more on the same plant but I don't think they will open soon. One or two of my others are starting to bud too.

Charla, that is a beautiful flower!!! Is it a catus? I'd be excited as well.

I'd like to see that sparkly orange koi up close... very nice.

Charla it is beautiful!! Wow! I am anxiously awaiting my first bloom on my Rembrandt. My plants are young. I have had them maybe a month. They are doing good though.

Had to laugh Busy, that's just what I said when I turned around and saw it .., Holy Cow! It has a faint sweet vanilla smell can't wait until more open.

Cinnamon, the father of a friend gave me 8 cuttings over a year ago, most are VERY SLOW growing. One of mine is dated 4/01 and is just putting out a tiny new stem.

Jackie, Epi's are a tropical (not desert) cacti and grow on tree branches as epiphytes, like some orchids. The stems are long, flat, smooth, no spines or thorns, with some scallops or notches. Some have blooms up to 10 inches across. Common name is Orchid Cactus.

Always willing to go out and snap a few pics of the kids.

Gee I do like that fish!!! Thanks for sharing a few more pics of him, does he have a name?

Jackie, When I send you the iris I'll stick a piece of Epi in, it's my understanding that you just break a piece off, let the end heal over and pot it up. I'll check with my friend first though.

Is my fish a he ? Oh well ... I call her Desdimona. Othello, the black and white that lost his red color, will be disappointed. The red and white one is Lucy , Ricky is swimming out of the bottom of the pic. The butterflys are Sunny and Dreamsicle , Buddy Holly is in a gold lame' suit with a black jacket and has his horn rimmed glasses on . THe gold fish are either This or That and Big Spot or Little Spot ... wonder where Fred and Ethel , the shubunkins were. You can tell I don't know the names for the types of Koi! !rofl

Charla, thank you. You are great.

Actually I'm not sure if Desdimona is male or female but the shape seems male from the pics. Terri may give a better guess. Sometimes I call them he and the beginning of the sentence and she at the end of it

All the troups look happy and healthy. Buddy's name suits him - pun intended !rofl

Yup thats what you do... I got a few leaf segments in the mail, put them in some good potting soil, takes a few weeks for it to get going but once it does it grow really well... I'm going on almost two years no blooms yet but am hoping soon...

Cheers jojo

JoJo, sorry Charla is sending me a cutting of hers along with some Japanese iris. But, hey if you'd like to send me a pink one, I'd accept  Visit the plant swap thread and see if there is anything posted so far that you are interested in. Too cold here for us to really think about plants yet.
