I think this little guy is the same one we had last year, anyway he sits in the same place. Don't know if he survied the winter in the pond or burried himself in somewhere close.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/grandmavis/2003_0430frog0008.jpg

So cute Marla!
Some people don't like frogs in the pond but I don't mind one or two.
Luckily the toads have done their business now and are gone from my pond.
Unfortunately one died during the act.
I kept seeing it on the bottom and after the 3rd day realized it was dead.
I confess...... I DO remove the eggs!

Thanks. Usualy all I've seen around are the lepards/pickerls and these itty bitty green ones with suction cup like toes that are in the gardens. I'll keep an eye out for eggs. My husband would love tadpoles, use to try to raise them as a kid with no luck of course, probably the clean water he'd put them in !rofl ,so now he thinks he has a chance.

I've raised thousands of tadpoles and toadpoles over the years. A tub of any sort that holds water and some algae covered rocks for the eggs and poles, as they start to grow legs a rock from them to climb out on and off they go.
Most people fail because the poles starve to death, they are eating machines and need lots of algae to eat and misquito larve etc. Hope he has success. We need all the amphbians we can get these days. 5 years here and not one frog. I raised 100 toads last year and none of them seem to be around either...
I'd love to have those little tree frogs but I fear the city pollution would be fartoo much for them.

I get tons of frogs in mine nor do they bother me although this year for the first time ever, many didnt survive the winter. I had to fish out a dozen or so when the ice finally released.
We have one resident frog whos missing his left front arm, he's been around since early last season and we were all gald to see he made it through the winter and is once again perching on the rocks, lording it over all he see's.

I expecte to see loads of tadpoles in my front pond, judging by the amount of spawn I saw a few weeks ago, :) but on checking yesterday not a single one :(.

Hmmm, any fish in there to eat them? Toads mature pretty quick and frogs seem to take a week or so longer. Bullfrogs can take 2 years to become frogs.
