Well, my oldest wakin is now dead - I gently let her go about an hour ago in a bath of water and clove oil. She, the mother of all my wakin offspring, lived with a very large growth on her head for the past three years and seemed unaffected by it. Terri had told me these were benign growths and nothing to worry about. Now, about two weeks ago I noticed the lump had a burst of growth, and today noticed her struggling against the current of my air stone. What really made the decision easy was after my dinner tonight I checked on her and found other fish nibbling on her now open growth... Yuk!!
Here are some pixs for educational purposes only.

KD, Sorry about your oldest Wakin. I'm glad you decided not to let her suffer, sometimes decisions are hard to make but it's a good one.

Both my wakin have gone to fishy heaven. Don't think I will buy any more. Still it is always sad to lose one.

Well the weather seem pretty good for doing stuff around the pond you will get a lot done if you keep at it.
My pond project is on hold as the MRS want the all the grass in the front yard dug out and some sort of design put in so I'm quite busy running around the garden center sometimes looking at koi and pond stuff instead of concentrating on what's to be done on the front yard.

My pond maintenance is all done for the season and is up and running - Just need to toss fish in when it warms up a bit.

I need to go to home depot and buy the purple primer stuff and maybe new glue as I left it out in the shed and I assume it froze.

Just get the primer the glue should be OK. I have left mine out many times and it has been good for use.

Found more leaks, on the intake where the flex meets the hard in both places. I've just glued over them and will hope for the best. Will try the hook up again today. If not I will have to cut them and go buy more connectors. Need to buy a pipe wrench as I can't get the leaf basket undone and I am not buying another one of those.:banghead:

I suppose that so called expert of a pond guy tightened your leaf basket too much... Perhaps he should move his royal buns and come over and unscrew it for you !

Well so far so good. The overgluing of the joints seems to have done the trick for now. So I don't have to unscrew the leaf basket to redo the connection. My only problem is now none of the pipes are where I want them. Well today I will get the UV started and see if I can't get the watergarden connection to the pump to stay connected. I did get the pipe unplugged.

Jackie we can fix those pipes one day as it's getting warmer now.

Don't worry Phil, I'll work it out. The overgluing is holding for now and I will get organized and see what I need.
