I have a friend who converted his pool to a pond with no problems - I also know of a fish breeder here in Canada who used their family pool to grow out fry... I wonder who that blonde is... Anyway, as long as you give it a good cleaning and use a good de-chlorinator, you should have no trouble at all.

We used an above ground pool for nearly a year as a temporary holding tank for our Koi when our pond developed a leak and as Koidaddy said, use dechlor to be safe when filling depending on the water source. Our pool was new but our water supply is chlorinated. The fish never knew. Pool stabilized in 2-3 weeks.

I had a kiddie pool for my koi in the basement for 1-1/2 years and no problems had to do a few water changes a week as the filtration couldn't handle the amount of fish and feedings but it worked out well if you keep on top of it. The only thing is you have to put up with the fishy smell.
