View Full Version : Pulling my hair out
:censored: pond. Peter and I got the pump going that feeds the pod and water falls today. Pump started nicely. I was worried about the cuplings leaking, but they are working great. Found a small leak in one of the other connection but not enough to worry about at the moment. Came home from work for dinner and Pete tells me there is a bigger leak some where else, pond has lost 1 1/2" of water. Well it can only be the hose to the falls or the liner in the falls. I have a feeling it's the hose, bad part about that is the hose is hidden under the veggie filter. That means pulling up the liner and moving all the plants to find just where it is. Had to shut the falls down a 12:30 this am after work. This is going to be the week from H*ll, so much going on and no way is there time to do it all.

Can you bypass the hose to the falls so you know for sure that's the one leaking before doing all that work for nothing if it's leak is somewhere else.

I agree with Phil. Also it doesn't take long for a small leak to add up.
Not a nice job to have to do.

Any job you have to tear down and redo isn't nice at all especially if there big rocks involved right Jackie. :frisbee:

It's nature the ground shifts even more when we disturb it to build our ponds which take time to resettle again, that's life you have to make the best of it.

Yes, I am not looking forward to rebuilding the waterfall but on the upside. Joe who helped me build it was here and has volunteered to come and help me again. And!! he wants to edge the garden so it looks nicer. Joe, is my kind of guy.

Good things comes to those who wait.
I don't envy you looking for the leak. I had a small one all last summer. I knew it was from the small bog, but finally gave up trying to find it and filled the bog in. :HAHA:
Haven't had to top the pond up once this summer. Such a wonderful change of events.

Got up at 8:30 yesterday and started to look for the leak. It was a good thing we put sand in the botton of the frame for the veggie filter. In the day light you could see the sand had washed out. Pulled the plants and lifted the liner and underpad to get at the hose. Didn't take long to find the leak, turn on the pump and the water shot up and hit me in the face :HAHA: What a way to wake up first thing in the morning. Three pin prick size holes. Were do you suppose they came from :banghead: . Dam Voles, Cut out the bad part and put in a couple of fittings. Did this about 5 times as I had a small drip, gave up and Peter added the extra muscle power needed to tighten when he got home. So glad it was there and not the water falls. Bad thing is, if it had been the water falls Peter was going to tear it out and build me a better one.

If that was the case you should have told him it was in the waterfall and bingo you would have gotten a better one built. :frisbee:
