Here is how I retro-fitted a 5-year old Cyprio box filter. I threw out the 6 foam pads (a pain to clean). In their place, I added Matala pads with a sheet of Wal-mart polyester fiberfill (the white pad). I also squeezed in a new row of Black Knight filter brushes. The Matala pads look loose-fitting in this photo, but everything tightens up nicely when the top is attached.

In the lower bio-chamber I added bio-balls along with the weird-looking plastic media on the right. That is the original Cyprio media -- oversized to not obstruct the discharge pipes.

I think I've maximized what can be stuffed into this old box filter. The filter is placed at the head of a 35-foot stream. It filters 1,300 gallons per hour for a pond of approximately 1,500 gallons.

Hey great. Lovely pond, thanks for sharing it with us.

Has the new configuration had time to run so you know how well it works and if it is easier to clean?
