Heavy overnight snows collapsed half of my greenhouse! I dug it out, but I obviously need to reinforce it, especially the center rib. Oh well, Sunday afternoon isn't really made for football.

That's a drag!! Same happened to me last January. I opted for a "Tempo Garage" this year... Hopefully there'll be no cave-ins - We shall see! Your storm is headed my way tonight and tomorrow. :censored:

Sorry to hear about the greenhouse, hope you have time to get it fixed before the next snowfall. Your pics look very much like KD's cave in from last year. Good luck

At least we didn't get all the rain they said we'd get or your wouldn't have been able to get out and fix it. We keep looking at covering the pond but in the end decide its too much work for unhandy folks like us. Now it is covered, with ice and snow. Oh well, it does keep the water warmer than open water.

Thanks! Much appreciated. I did a partial fix this afternoon, but I'll need to get out to Home Depot to pick up more electrical conduit if I'm to add more hoops...

Absolutely! My understanding is that the hoop house doesn't keep them from becoming dormant, or make the water warmer, it just extends the Autumn feeding season by a few weeks and starts the Spring season a few weeks early at the other end.

Do you bring any of your koi indoors?

The cover will not only extend the feeding season, but it does keep the water temp more stable for a longer time. Trick is to get it up before the temp starts to drop. Ours goes up around Thanksgiving and comes down May 24. Temp drops are slower and over a loner time frame. Were still sitting at 40 F even when it been -10 C and windy as ol :censored: out side.

Even keeping 16"/40cm on center for each rib or pipe can leave room for snow to push in and cradle snow on the plastic. The thicker and more ridgid the clear pastic is the better, as well as being tight so snow rolls off or at least last long enough to pull the snow off. :phfft:
Wind was nuts today ripping tarps off my unfinished building at work. How did you fair today?

Thanks to having a fence on one side, a garage on another, and being close to the house, it is relatively sheltered. It stayed in one piece!! I will work on tightening th eplastic, I have found that quite difficult.
