PROFORM C 1 GAL - TREATS 12800GAL 3X
ProForm-C Broad Spectrum Disease Treatment. ProForm-C is abroad spectrum malachite green & formalin treatments. It is formulated differently than any other malachite green & aldehyde mix. Malachite green and formalin are two drugs that are more effective in combination than if used individually. This is the definition of synergism. These two drugs are also less toxic in combination than if used individually, What makes ProForm-C the preeminent product in this field is the fact it is formulated with malachite green chloride, while all other MG&F products use the oxalate salt form which is more toxic than the chloride form. The benefits of ProForm-C:* The safest and most effective treatment for the control of diseases caused by Ichthyophthirius (ich), Costia, Trichodina, Chilodonella, Oodinium and fungal infections.* The ONLY MG&F treatment that can be used in water temperatures as low as 50 degrees (F), thus allowing you to treat in early Spring and late Fall. All other MG&F treatments can NOT be used below 62 degrees (F).
* Treatment is DAILY. Most other MG&F treatments are dosed once every three days. Dosing daily allows you to complete the treatment in 3 days instead of 9 days.
* You do NOT need to bypass your bio-filters which allows a more comprehensive treatment of the entire pond system.
* Less toxic to koi and goldfish than any other MG&F product on the market.

Directions for use

Add 3.5 oz. (100 ml) of preform-C for every 1000 gallons of total volume of water to be treated. As with all pond treatments a large partial ( at least 25% , 50% is better ) water change. A water change will greatly improve the effectivness of the treatment. Remove activated carbon from filters and stop foam fractionators. Do not stop filtration. Treatment should be repeated daily for 3 consecutive days with a minimal 25 % water change before each re-treatment. Watch treated fish for at least one hour after treatment. If signs of stress (piping at surface or coughing) replace fresh activated carbon, restart foam fractionators (protein skimmer) or perform a large water change.

First off, Peg great stuff as far as product info goes. I'll take it here for this is my "con's", or shall we say our discussion, on Proform-C. First in my mulity personalities I will play the devils advocate (not a strech  )

#1 This stuff needs lots of air, as in added aeration during treatment. Why? It's Formalin based which depletes oxygen in the water.

#2 Salt with this stuff just kills koi. Salt mixed with Formalin is a bit of a "no no".

#1 and #2 should be first on the list in the directions.

#3 Anybody else find this product doesn't always work?

Thanks for the added info Ian.
The info is great on the bottle but still being new to this hobby it's good to get more from those that have used these products. Also to have info added you may have missed or didn't know about. Do you think that some people have more or less succes due to how much they have treated, or how much the fish may have been treated with meds in the past before they get it home. I posted this under Meds & dosage, maybe we could move this over to that instead of having two threads going. Not sure why it posted in both ????

I think that people don't know their pond size. Also there has been discussions on some boards of how Proform C has been diluted from its original formula and now to be effective one drains half the pond adds the proform and fills up the pond.... how this would work with chlorinated water is beyond me but would work on well water. No chlorine to fight with the formalin and no adding dechlor which would also fight with the meds.
