Jackie now that I know that shipping plants to Canada is within the rules, you will be receiving a box next year!

I'd send now but you probably have ice on your pond!:LOLsm: :frisbee:

• Flat Rate Boxes can be used for both domestic and international shipping:

— Available to anywhere in the U.S. for $8.95

— One rate to Canada and Mexico for $23.00

— One rate to all other countries for $37.00

*20 pound maximum for international shipments
• The inside dimensions for the two boxes available are 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" and 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375".

Bonnie you must have missed me bashing UPS in another thread. :frisbee:

Although you may only pay the flat rate, when it comes to me I will have to pay a brokerage fee and customs that they charge because 'I might owe it', not that I do owe, just that I might. Then they tell you to get the money back from the gov't who we know never gives anything back. The last time I had anything shipped UPS the item was prepaid shipping and the cost to me was 68.56, for a 80.00 item. Before that I sent home from California a small package that contained under 100.00, sent UPS who charged my cousin who was house sitting 90.00. My free/gift camera from another board came with a 68.00 brokerage fee. Hubby turned it away at the door.... he lives but barely.

For cross border shipping nothing beats the old snail mail post office.

I ship via post all the time to the states (tiles) and its usually under 10.00 depending on weight. I ship them as a gift so no duty is charged although art is supposed to be duty free, I don't trust customs.

I offered a fair trade for plants this year, offer is till open. :frisbee:

Didn't know that UPS had a flat rate fee?

Don't know anything about brokerage fees, etc but this doesn't apply with the USPS, correct?

If we do the plants early next year I can get more in a box if I send out without leaves and stems.. that means you will have a full lily pond next season for sure!

You can send tiles for $10? What's your secret?
The one time that I sent a small pkg to you it was double what I normally pay to ship within the US.. wonder if the PO goofed?

Did the gentleman set you up with any plants for your new pond?

Postal is by size and weight so I pack small and light except the tile of course :HAHA: I've found the US postal to be uninformed about anything outside the US borders... one friend was told just to put normal postal and it would get to Canada.... not!!

Don't forget when you ship here you have to pay 2 post offices, yours and mine so 2 x's seems about right. I sent a small tree to Alaska for 6.00, depends on how fast you want it shipped. It costs 52 cents to send a letter in Canada and 80 cents to send the same letter to the US, not quite twice but close enough.

No the guy who came by to offer plants gave them away before I got to him. Marla is going to send me some come spring.

Don't forget the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US so maybe I should send you some loonies for postage :frisbee:
