Jackie, This time next year your lily pond will look like it's been there forever!
Marla, I am the same way.. it's a terrible addiction. I have got rid of approx 20 different varieties this year BUT to I've been adding other new ones though!
Terri, Thanks.
As far as the mosaic design, that is the inside of my birdbath which I got on sale a few years ago.. I just love it!
I don't recall now if it was Lowes or Home Depot.

Bonnie, if I ever grow your green thumb it might but I'm hopeful at least my old white lilies will fill that darn hole next year and for years to come :HAHA:

My lilies did well this year despite me breaking them apart. Wish I knew the names of all them. I don't know how to tell the difference. Most are a SHADE OF PINK. SOME LIGHTER AND SOME DARKER. JUST ENJOY THE BLOOMS.
ANYWAYS THANKS AGAIN FOR THE PICS AND THE EDUCATION.

Chris if you posted pics Bonnie could probably name them for you. She's good!

Chris most people that aren't collectors don't worry about names..for several years the only names that I knew was dark pink, light pink, red, yellow, etc...
Waterlilies are the only plant I have that I 'worry' about the names.. because I trade, sell, beg, borrow and steal for them!
Well not quite..
I do know many varieties but it gets hard to tell one apart from another because many are so much alike and bloom color can vary due to climate, etc..
Usually if a person has absolutely no clue what they have it's best to just say Red, Pink, etc instead of putting a name to it and passing it on as that name..
Heck a person can start with a Pink Sensation and if they let it go to seed .. they can have Pink Sensation seedling which isn't the same. Same goes for Lotus, unless you split the tuber/rhizome and start a plant from it, it's not a true to name version.
Anyway.. sorry enough of my rambling on. !bonk
Would love to see your waterlilies, name or no name!

The first lilies we got in our pond were from the pond dealer and just called yellow, red, and white. Now I have some I do know names of, some sent to me like this year a Charlene Strawn and it's white, with fuzzy stems on the lily buds, this is the only one I have like this, but I thought Charlene Strawn was yellow so I think a mistake. Also got an Anna Epple that turned out to be yellow, this one I did complain about. So now I have 3 new lilies that are wrong and I will have to call unnamed if I give or trade them. I'd like to trade off my unknowns, but seens most people don't want unknowns. I agree with Bonnie don't put a name on it if you don't know for sure that's how lots of wrong lilies get past off.

Marla, you can send me unknowns. I don't care. Be glad to have new ones. The only one that has done well for me is a white one, unnamed but prolific  It is preety as it stands above the water, has a pink back light to the petals but what it's name is.....???? I've had it for 16 or more years.

You are right Marla, Charlene Strawn is YELLOW and Anna Epple is light Pink so you got sent the wrong waterlilies.
Did you purchase any from TWL this year by any chance??????? :banghead:

Why yes I did, gee how did you guess. They did send me a new Anna Epple I hope, and when what I thought was Charlene Strawn did't bloom right I didn't call but I know I should have. The white is different because of the fuzzy stems, any idea why the difference. And which yellow has speckles (not mottling) They said Anna Epple is next to if I remember Texas Dawn would that make sense, are it's pads speckled? Any way not impressed, cheap lilies but not what I ordered. Don't think I'll order the ones I really really want from them. Can't give away lilies now except call them unnamed.

Jackie, I'd send you some tubers in the spring if it wouldn't be a hassle for you with customs and all.

Marla, as long as the plants have no dirt there is not issue. Odd that we can't import dirt. Just send them in the mail marked waterlilies and gift. I'll send you postage. By spring maybe I'll have a home for them...

Well, I didn't know that..... I thought it was illegal just to send lilies themselves!

No, there are some plants that can not be moved across borders mostly food items like oranges. This is also true amongst the states as well as between the US and Canada. Soil is not permitted because of the microbes that may be hidden.
But it is best to send via post rather than courier as the courier services all seem to have their brokerage firms who have in the past years decided they are US and Canadian customs and want a duty or fee above and beyond the shipping price. UPS is after me for quite a few dollars that I have no intention of paying. They have no right to those fees. They now won't just leave things at the door. :censored:
