Well my tadpoles are turning into frogs and/or toads. Not sure if the little ones are toads or woodfrogs. They seem similar to toads I have raised in the past but the toadpoles are still poles, not toads...

I think this is a green tree frog ?? he is 3 times the size of the others

Making their escape soon I think

for size comparison, this is a guppy fry

Kewl, little hoppers

pic#1 is definitely a green tree frog. #2,3 are toads.

I came across a little itty bitty RED toad today in the Nexus filter pit... too cute! wish I had had the camera handy - he hopped away before I could blink!

Hundreds of green tree frogs 'round here... too cute!

Way too cute! I haven't had toads or frogs spawn in the pond in a few years now. One year we had so many toads, it was amazing. Starting to see more and more come back. I don't know what happened to them all, scary.

These are imported from Terri's I think the raccoon got some of them as there doesn't nearly seem as many now as she gave to me. Although some could have turned and moved on. There are still a few toadpoles without legs. But only the one green frog and none of the bigger ones.

All those tadpoles and I end up with 8 toads and one frog. :crybaby: I may have to come by and get some company for the green frog.

Actually saw at least one more tad in the pond today and something scurried along the bottom out of sight. I've put the toads in the garden in hopes they stay and not wander off to the neighbours who sprayed this week for the first time since I've lived here.... I don't think they will do so again after I told them I was worried about my fish and now my frogs.

Just fyi: frogs and toads can be cannibalistic, especially if the insect population isn't adequate. Try releasing crickets from the local pet / bait shop or setting out a platter of mealworms occasionally.

Thanks for the tip but truly there are lots of bugs in the garden for them. They should grow big and fat.

So far they have not returned to the pond to mate, but then the ice has only been off that pond for 2 days.
