hi all,
attached are some pictures of a 'temporary' garage pond that i'm working on. it is basically 2"x6" framing and 3/4" plywood.
i'm a little further along than the pictures suggest - i put insulation board on the floor, some underlay, a pond liner and filled it with water. it hasn't ruptured yet!!!
next on the list is the filter.

You would have been stronger if you would have overlapped those top plates. I would put straps around the top corners to make sure they dont blow out on you.
Keep posting the progress!!

Nice, but I need my garage for the cars I don't want to be scrapeing snow and ice any more.

thanks greg. i wanted to build it so that it was easy to take apart - so each wall is built separately and then connected to it's neighbour by four bolt/washer/nut combos. i think that out of fear i over-engineered the structure. the double 2x6 top plates make it such that giving the middle a strong shake hardly causes a ripple in the water!
i am planning on building a backyard koi pond in the summer - i guess i got a little anxious and so started the temp one in the garage. i figured that way i could experiment a little and make my mistakes there first. plus i'd like to run this in the garage for the first winter to see how the outdoor ponds weathers.
part of my 'temporary' designation for the tank is to make it easier to convince my girlfriend that it was a sensible thing to build. i can't really fault her - after all her car sits outside all winter while mine (i don't drive it in the winter) gets tucked away in the garage.
