View Full Version : Spring
It seems spring is peeping through the darkness, mornings are getting lighter, neither is it dark coming home from work.
But for me the first signs of spring is the peonys, (which is a large red flower) which is now poking its head through the ground, and in may, will give you 4/6in heads.
Always our pointer that better weather is on its way.
PS I looked at fingers again yesterday, its changed ever so slightly, so might be what I think it was/told it was
My peonies are still buried under a big blanket of snow. Can't wait to see them come poking through the ground though. Just starting to get light when I get to work at 6 now, but after this weekends time change it'll be back to being really dark again when I get here. At least the evenings will be much lighter later.
Supposed to move into above 0 temps again on Friday, let's hope this is finally going to be springs arrival.

Hey Dewi, We seem to be a few light years behind you... So cold today the dogs had to be thrown out!! I can't remember when I've hated Winter so much!!! - But, they are reporting temps above the freezing mark for the weekend?
Glad you're warm! ( )

Buddy decided that it was safe to walk across the pond and back again today.... I am sooo sad he was right. Silly dog went in last year and obviously dosen't remember. He won't make it on Saturday when it warms up, mean while I have to go and pour hot water at the skimmer entrance to keep the flow going. :-x

Yes They are calling for rain on Saturday, In my area, YIPPY.
KD I think this winter is the worst cause of the late start we got , I foolishly thought back then we would have a warm winter this year, lol . Then we were thrown into deep freeze suddenly and it has not let up, The hour change will be earlier this year it will at least feel better seeing the daylight a little later than it is now

Terry, when I bought it, I was told it was a Hi Shusui, my fish are still quite deep, but I had/tried to look at it more closely the other day, and it does appear to have some markings along the latera line of its body but as yet l cant be certain,
Will post you all a pic when the weather goes above 10c-50f :)
Dewi.

I can't believe how fast the snow and ice are melting today!!! No rain here either but the pond is no longer safe for small dogs to dance on and squirrels should watch their step as well.
I just know the snow drops on the hill are under that snow waiting to open their blooms. That is my favourite time. Tomorrow I bet i have flowers!!!!!
Beautiful sunny morning here, bought my first koi food this AM. But the weather is set to turn a mite colder so may hang back on the feeding for a while.
Need to do so much, thing is where to start. :)

Where to start is always an issue here with so much to be done. The plans start getting quite elaborate this time of year.
Feeding is really water temp based but to be honest if they will eat I usually feed them They aren't interested in water below 50F anyway.
