:( I'm just heartbroken to have lost my Yogi bear. He was 10.5 and perfectly fine right up until Monday night, he got sick to his stomach and would do nothing but lie around after that. Hubby took him to the vet on Tuesday and they found a coconut sized tumor on his liver. The vet said it's pretty normal for you to see nothing wrong with the dog at all, it's when the tumor finally ruptures the organ that you see there's a problem and by then obviously it's way too late.
I have 4 cats, but it's not the same not having a dog greet you when you get home....I know it's really soon, but I'm already starting to look for another pup....it wasn't easy to find a keeshond when we were looking for Yogi, he was my second kees, the first one died at 9 from pancreatic cancer, they followed the same breeding lines.
At least he didn't suffer long, but it's sure a shock when it all happens so fast. I wish dogs lived longer.

Cindy my heart goes out to you. Losing a beloved pet so suddenly is terribly hard. As always the good is it wasn't the long lingering and you did have a long time together. Not much in the way of comfort I know but there are no magic words for things like this.

Another dog will never replace but brings new love and energy to the house. When we lost our Amber at 17 years we weren't looking to have a second dog but Skipper needed a friend. Rescuing Buddy was a wonderful choice for us all and although sometimes he just drives me crazy its in a good way. He earns his keep by making me laugh each and every day.

I am not familiar with the breed of Keeshounds but I am sure they are wonderful dogs.

I sure do sympathize with how you feel Cindy. Get another dog, as there sure is one out there that needs your lovin'. I know I wanted one right away, to begin another journey with a new best friend.

Do you have a picture of Yogi? Here's our Bailey, it's been just over a year since we had to put her down.

The new addition seems to be fitting in... can you feel the love in the air?

Wow, what a handsome dog. I'm sure he filled you days with love.

No need to rush to get a new one but when you start to look www.Petfinder.com is a rescue site that also has links to breed specific rescue in case you want the same breed. Being a toy poodle person I was very lucky to find Buddy almost right away.

Actually, I was quite sad to see so many keeshonds needing a home....

:( Heart goes out to you, very sorry about Yogi Cindy, beautiful dog. I still miss Bailey, she was my best friend, constant companion, we were joined at the hip, and she will always hold a special place in my heart :) ...as I'm sure Yogi will for you too.

Oh Cindy.. so sorry about the loss of your beloved dog. I'm with you - It's a real downer that dogs don't live longer! When I look into the eyes of my Jack Russell, Harley, who is 11 years old now, my heart fills with sadness thinking that perhaps in a few more years he will be gone! He's my best friend in the world and life without him will be difficult.

Yes having them live longer would be great. KD your jack russell, is very handsome! I am not familiar with that breed, but looking at yours he seems to have a good sence of humour , Cute!

Hi Cindy,
Sorry to hear about your pup. If you have a favorite picture of Yogi Bear you could take it to Wal-Mart and have it made into a throw blanket. Then he could keep your heart, body and soul warm forever. It would make a lovely keepsake along with all your wonderful memories. My heart goes out to you. Peg

Its funny how I've had dogs all my life but there is one I still miss and she's been gone for gosh 15 years now!!! My first poodle and parti coloured to boot. parti coloured were hard to find then as most were destroyed to keep the breed pure. she died at 13 but was the miracle dog as I wanted to have her put to sleep at 6 months as she had hip displaysia and rubber jaw rickets etc. Never buy the runt of the litter, her other name was the million dollar dog.

Cindy, so sorry to here. It is so heartbreaking of a decision. Our 1st dog died the day before we planned to put him down. Our last dog I had to make the final decision and it was tough, that was last year Jan, and then In Oct. I had to put my cat down, which was just as bad. We still have 3 cats at home, none of which are directly mine, belong to grown children that could not take them with so they are here. Two are old and ill, one I give IV fluids every other day for kidney failure, but can't bring myself to put down because he still is so full of life. Big hugs, time they say heals the sorrow, but tears still come to my eyes when I think of my pets and years have past.
