Hello I am new here.
I have checked out a couple threads and a good amount of pics are not opening. Some have only dashes and others have nothing just a box where an attachment should be.
Whats up :?:
Plus with dial up it slows things down more. having main thread page to fully open and then click on dashes to see pics related to the post.
Tks for your input and concern on this matter.

Hi OttawaPonder :-)
In your User CP, Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> check to see if the Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code) box is checked. If it is not then you will not see the pictures/avatars. Remember to click Save Changes when done.
Let me know if this solves the problem.

Tks Terri,
I went and checked all those were checked already and still does not work.
I went to "Indoor Koi Pond #3" thread and Greg's attachments are showing up as link/URL's if I am NOT logged on and only Dashes if I do log on. But never as pictures.
If I open some other threads I am able to see pics if I am logged on or not. However even on some of those threads there are a few that merely show an attachment areas outlined but nothing in them - not even a link or a dash.
Thanks for any help on this. Its bad enough as it is with dial up LOL
Having to open two or more pages just to read a thread and then see the pics slows down this old - :p Hey now - not old fart (meaning me) I was going to say old computer LOL :D

I have dial up so I understand... it's frustrating at times(majongs thread almost killed me in wait time! I had to refresh the page 4 times to see all the images he posted lol)... have you tried to refresh the page when your logged in to see if the images will load? At any rate, I'll see if I can't figure out why this is happening for you.
BTW, if you are not logged in you would not see attachments, only registered members logged in should be able too.

Terri, just so you know I was able to see the links to Greg's pics on his thread about indoor pond when I first came to this forum and before I ever signed up.
Mind you I never tried to click on them at that time. And now that I have signed on, I only get dashes on that thread of his when I am logged on.

Hi again Terri,
Just thought you like to know.
This thread: A little pond tour box #9 it says "Attached Thumbnails" and is boxed in wiht one single DASH in it.
IT is the only pic on that thread which did not open - for some reason.
It is also just what I have been talking about.
Funny thing - its your post too, in someone's thread. LOL
Tks again for your help.

I have checked all the board settings along with your users settings, everything is the way it should be..? I'm assuming it's just uploaded attachments you are having issues with... is this for every thread where there are attachments? Puzzling, not sure why this is happening to only you  but still trying to find the answer...

I am still not able to view thumbnails as attachments!!
This is what I see. (hope this works)
Two are from one of Greg's Threads
Two are from one of BusyB's Threads
Same problem with 3 different people's thumbnail attachments.
Tks for any help...

The thumbnails are .png files.. I'm not sure but this may have something to do with your problem seeing them.
I know this is an issue for you OttawaPonder... and I'm sorry I have not found a solution to it for you yet, but I am trying...
Do you have another browser other than IE? You can download Firefox for free.. it's a small program. I would be curious to see if this happens with another browser for you as well....?

Thanks Doug :-)
I have viewed this forum with 4 different browsers and I have not found any to have this issue that OttawaPonder is experiencing...
It's a puzzle, I'm trying to make the pieces fit.

If you click the dashes do the pics open up???
YES Jackie they will open.
HOWEVER, If you look closely at the four different pages I had posted.
You will see some have dashes and some do NOT.
So to take the time to move about and them if there are any pics and just how many is a royal pain. Also to have to open another page just to see a pic. and one for each pic so you are able to read/follow along and go back and forth to the right pic is also a pain as well. More so on a slow slow dailup.
All we have out here in the country. No cable, No DSL, Heck no gas, water or sewer LOL
But hey we do have VALLEY VISION!!! Yepppppieeeeeeeeeeeee
Anyone know what VALLEY VISION is??
RABBIT EARS (ON TOP A TV) !rofl
Terri and Jackie thanks again for trying.

Hi Folks.
I found that i was having the same problem,,,,,,Because the Pictures I was trying to post were too big.
I resized to 4x6 and had NO problems at all.
Just a Thought.

Richard, I am not able to see the Atached thumbnials that others have been able to post. Plus Jackie, Terri and many others are able to see what I am not able to for some odd reason.

:backon: Has everyone forgot about me
I tried to open a new thread today and it had tons of thumbnails - I was not able to see one. NOT trying to be rude by any means - but this is getting old.
1) I tried resetting my browser
2) I closed out my internet protection (only for a few mintues - to load a thread.) Still no change.
I am lost why I am the ONLY one not able to view the thumbnail PICS :-P LOL
ANYONE ELSE haing this problem
Does anyone know why I am????? Thanks

Ok Tony let's see if we can work out exactly what is wrong. First of all, to my knowledge, you are the only one having this problem. If anyone else is having this problem please speak up.
Let me know if you can see pics other than the thumbnails. For instance I linked a bunch of pics today can you see those and the ones you linked in?
What is your screen resoution set at?

Tony I have been backwards and forwards through this software, I can't find anything that applies to this problem you're having... I've gone so far as to ask a few people that I know have older computers (running Windows95) to have a look, was fine for them. I'm still waiting for my friend to get back to me with his take on what's happening with your issue, he's been quite ill these past 2 weeks.
I know it's been a while and we don't have any answers for you - yet. I haven't forgotten.

Could you please let me know the URL TKs.
Terri, I am using windows 98 - If I had siad other wise before I am srry - that is what I had on my older computer last fall.
Tks

Thanks for the correction Tony. I do apologize for this problem you're having...

Tony I relooked at your post and feel that it is just the pictures posted direct to the board you can no see. Which makes me think it may have something to do with how the screen resolution is set. If set too low the thumbnails would not be able to show because they are too fine...especially since you can see the pics once they are expanded. This may not be right, just a guess,
Now how to change the setting...I have no clue.

I mentioned this before as I thought it might be the .png file format that is causing your problem. Tom seems to think the same thing is happening
Having looked at the problem…I can only think perhaps he has browser settings that refuse .png files…but not sure how he should go about readjusting it….
This problem isn't coming from our end... I'm sorry Tony but I don't know how or what will fix this for you.. :-( If you haven't tried already, running windows update along with downloading any updates for IE 6.0 might help fix this, as well as checking your IE settings under the Advanced tab/MulitMedia to see what boxes are checked...
Other options as a whole:
I can switch back to upload attached images as links, or I can change it so the upload shows as the actual size of the image file - but that will limit the amount of uploads per post.... hmmm I might be able to modify that.
The reason I added the thumbnails was to let users with dial-up see the images and choose which to view full size(png files allow for faster page loading)... the other consideration was as that full sized upload attachments can slow the board's preformance down considerably over time. (Linked images do not have this issue as they are not stored in the boards data base)
