Pretty bummed out tonite, our 11 year old Holly was put in the hospital this afternoon. She's been running a fever and having pain in the right side since Sunday, took her to the doctor on Monday and they checked for everything and found a 4 cm ovarian cist that ruptured, said it should get better in a couple days and all it's done is get worse, so they admitted her to the hospital, the surgeon came in at 8pm to take a look and he thinks there is a large amount of internal bleeding that's causing the fever, he said that the body can reabsorb it but she may be uncomfortable for a couple of weeks till it's gone. I think they're leaning towards surgery since they are withholding food and liquid after midnight, just don't think they wanted us to worry all night about it. I just came home with the boys and Lori is spending the night with her.
She's a little trooper though, the thing bothering her most is she won't be able to play in our volleyball tournament on Saturday, she still thinks she can if she feels up to it, laying there with her IV she told her one brother " I could go play right now if I wanted to".

:( sorry Holly is going through this, I can imagine how worried you must be. I'd be beside myself if it were Lynnea (who by the way is the same age as Holly) and it would be Lynnea telling me to 'chill out' while she rolled her eyes at me LOL
 She is a trooper - after all this and still having good team spirit and spunk - way to go girl!
My thoughts are with you. I hope she gets better fast.

G'day Flywheel. I hope your little girl is better real quick. Tell her there's a hairy old upside down farmer in Australia praying for her. Jay (In Oz).

Sorry To Hear About Your Little One. She Is Young And Strong And Will Recover Quickly. Tell Her The Next Pain She Will Feel Is For The Other Team In Volleyball When She Is Spiking The Ball Down On Them. :)

A frightening time. Been there done that - I had surgery. Still hurts like hell while going through it. Holly sounds like a real brave girl. I'm sure procedures have changed since my experience 30 odd years ago.
Keep us posted and know we are all routing for her.
Trust me this is harder on us parents then the kids. She will be up and ready to go in no time flat, like it was nothing. Kids have a way of doing that. We'll send happy thoughts your way.

Thanks for all the good thoughts everyone, they must have helped, Holly got home today with no surgery and feeling much better, still was in a lot of pain this morning but the doctor assured us she should start feeling better by the weekend and as the morning went on the pain began to subside and now it's almost completely gone, what a relief, I miss the old days when I could just give her a kiss and say it's OK and that's all it took.
Thanks again everyone,
Ron and Holly

What good news, I hope her recovery continues so speedily. don't let her overdo things for a few days though.

Well, Holly is back to 100% yesterday, Friday the doctor released her to do whatever she felt up to but if any pain returned to cease and desist. We still made her take it easy.

I hope she gets to at least watch her team play.

Of course, I'm the coach, we got 2nd in the tournament on Sat., got beat by a pretty good team, we would have our hands full with everyone playing their best.
We learn more from our losses than our wins though, so now we have some stuff to work on in practice.

We always learn more by losing or through errors than if everything goes right.
