Anyone else notice it was still light after 5 pm last night. Those few minutes a day we are gaining are starting to add up.

You bet I've noticed it's getting lighter. I love watching the days get longer on the lead up til spring. If we could only stay this warm until spring too. I know that's going to end next week sometime, but I'll take this wonderful weather until then.

The pups and I enjoyed and extra long walk in the park today. I just had a light coat on but was hot by the time I came home.

Skipper my old guy is going deaf and blind and got turned around on the path and ran off in the wrong direction. Each time I called him he would stop and listen but I guess could hear the echo and would run even faster in the wrong direction  I finaly remembered the golden rule with dogs, never never chase them so I stopped and he stopped and I walked toward him a bit till he saw me then crouched down and called him. He was soooo happy to 'find' me ... still reminds me he is old. He'll be 13 on the 17th

What better way to spend the wonderful day than chasing your dog in the park.

Ain't it the truth people! Wish the world was run by canines... we would be a heck of a lot better off! I know when I get home after a rough day @ the office (or memories from my childhood  ) there's nothing better than my two Jack Russells to lift my spirits!....SLURP!!

Hugs to Skipper!

its going to be 13C here today, that's about 56F, for those metricly challenged.

Too muddy after the rain for a romp in the park but a great day for a waterchange forthe big pond and maybe a bit of spring cleanup. I think the crocus are coming up.

2 Jack Russells!!! talk about an overload of energy.

The title of this thread had me laughing  .

The company I work for are on a cost cutting drive ( and that includes our pay rise in April) :( Anyway some bright spark put up a notice on the drivers board yesterday, it read :

Due to the cost cutting exercise the company is running , the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice .

The powers to be were not amused

On another note , we have two Jack Russels as well :)

Is there a company anywhere that is not in cost cutting mode??? They should be happy with the savings with gas prices dropping and the warm weather, both there and here.

At least the 2 Jack Terrorists can keep each other busy. Certainly Buddy our pup has perked Skipper up considerably but these are toy poodles, much more subdued. They sleep now and again.

It was a spectacular day here yesterday. I know it's not going to last but I'm loving it while it does. My bamboo is still green as green can be and swaying away in the wind at the top of the rock garden. I know winter will come sooner or later, but the later the better.

Winter snows and cold may not be here in our little piece of the world.. did you hear about B.C? I 'almost' feel sorry for them ;)

It's raining here... which would be ok if the grass were green and the flowers were in bloom - just drab and dreary otherwise.

Listening to the radio yesterday and the announcer spoke about the ski resorts here - massive layoffs, think Blue Mountain Resort layed of 16000 employee's "unitl there's snow on the slopes".

The fish are starting to follow me around looking to be fed. I nearly did but then thought better of it. The pond is clean now and they'll only poop in it if I feed them.

We have a few cold days coming up this week then it is back to above normal temps till at least January 20th. PMO!

We have a year old Yellow Lab that we rescued from the shelter. She is a ball of fire on the leash. She hunkers down and pulls for all she is worth. My wife can't walk her or she will be heading down the street on the fly! :frisbee:

Sounds time for obediance classes Chuck. :frisbee: I have a simple way of stopping my dogs from pulling me. I stop, just stop as soon as they hit the end of the leash. They pull until tired and then look at me, once they stop pulling we start again. Repeat until the dog gets it. Usually about 20 minutes for most but Buddy is still pushing it after a year. !bonk One reason I wanted an oder dog, so much less work.

Yeah Jackie, been doing the stop and go trick too. She is getting better. Takes time, the older you get, the more patience you have, at least I do.

I wish I could get my husband to stop when Buddy pulls... he just slows down and the dog then pulls harder... means he needs to be retrained each walk. Consistency is the key. A gentle leader may help with the lab. Pulls their heads down when they pull. Wrapping the leash around the one of the front legs slows them down as well. The problem is the dog doesn't learn anything but it does go slower

Hubby broke the retractable leash as Buddy pulled it out of his hand and it smashed on the sidewalk. Not bad since Buddy is only 8lbs but pulls like a pit bull.

Brandy is 49 lbs and pulls like an elephant!

Oh, I miss those walks, use to do both the dogs (one 100lb, one 80lb) they use to try to nose each other out of the lead, till the bigger male would give in and let the more domanant female take about a head lead. They did heal very nice however once they got their positions. Daughter and family got a beagle pup this week, she's a cute one but with a toddler and a new baby on the way I don't know what they were thinking!

What a sweetie. Well Marla when you are young you have more energy. I'm sure they will manage.

Skipper was so used to Amber being in the lead he just let Buddy go ahead. He even lets Buddy chase the squirrels all by himself if its cold or raining. He may be old but I think he's still smart.
