Who else has wakin? I bought 3 from Terri this spring and was wondering how big they are going to get.
I've never seen one....I'm going to have to look them up on the net to see a picture. Maybe I want one and don't know it yet.

Jackie, I like your taste in the Wakin. I have fantails about the same mix of red and white, definitely want to upgrade to Wakin, but none around here and yours are too far away to steal.

Here are my guys - all guys, not a gal amoung them!

They live in the small water garden for summer and inside to a 150gal stock tank for winter. I've been meaning to get another aquarium, maybe a 75gal, so I can enjoy them in the house.
Here a few more... they are just hanging out here until they find new homes

Wakin are goldfish, so yes they do... just as hardy as comets or shubunkins.

Terri, shame on you!!! You sold me fat Wakin, look how skinny yours are compared to mine.
All boys eh??? that sounds so good to me. I'm hoping mine don't spawnthis winter, Tweet is taking more than his share of space.
Fly, the wakin are safely locked up in the greenhouse. Still a mess but tidier than it has been.

HA! Not skinny now... I'll shoot some pics later and post what fatties I have here
Hey Terrie I have a 65 gal tank and stand (no lid) comes with one shark. I'm sure we could make a deal.. I mean trade    P.S. He gets along with wakins
They're very pretty fish. Do they only come in red and white? Not that there's anything wrong with that, I love red and white fish. Are they all fantail? Are they a new breed? Do they grow to the same size as comets?
Do they breed as much as goldfish? The only reason I don't have goldfish in the pond now is they're so hard to keep their population in check.

Cindy Wakin means goldfish in Japanese  with all that that implies. The split tail is ressive I think but desirable. They seem to be available in other colours now. I forget now where I saw pics of them looking like sanke.
BTW these wakin will not go into the koi pond but will have their own pond built... I've been saying that for 2 years now but definately it will happen one day
Thanks Jackie.
I've been thinking about putting in a goldie pond too. I want an eight or nine foot diameter round formal partially above ground type. I loved keeping goldies, just the whole population thing was a problem. This time I want to keep all one sex.
Still have to wait for the right time to spring this whole idea on the hubby.

I don't even have the excuse of hubby not being on side for the new pond, just summer seems to go so quickly and the garden is a lot of work. Plus the old back isn't what it once was.
I'd like a raised pond as well, nice to sit real close to the water and enjoy the fish.

They are suppose to be able to grow from 12 to 18 inches long. These are some of my new ones that I have fry from in the garage.

I like them, even more koi markings than the ones I got from Terri. In particular I like the last ones red with black piping.
Welcome and thanks for sharing those pics. Got pics of the parents?

I do like the black and red ones. You've got a full time project going there.
I have 3 wakin but they have not spawned as yet although I expect they will at some point. Do they sapwn as much as regular goldfish?

They are goldfish, so yes they spawn as much as regular goldfish. The three in the garage tank have been spawning once a week since I add water hyc. to the tank. My plant person calls it goldie porn !rofl

Mine may be intimidated by sharing the space with a 25 inch koi. I've also kept the water pretty cold this winter. With any luck they are all boys
