Ok, I did get out and take a few pictures this year. Purchased some new lillies of which only the Almost Black sent up buds, one I missed one I got to see but the picture doesn't do the dark color justice. Other ones I got later and smaller were Colorado (really wanted to see this bloom), Firecrest, and in a forum by, Bob Tricket, Red Flare, non of these tropicals did a thing and I've moved them around so much I'm not sure which is which. I also got Charlies Choice, and a Burgandy princess(not sure of name) these also were lost causes this year. I doubt I'll buy there again, the prices were great but not the product. But here are my older ones, didn't get any pics of the yellows this year.

My lilies did poorly this year as well. Not sure why, certainly we had long sunny hot days for them. Great pics. I wonder now if my attraction really is "attraction' doesn't look as big or as nice as yours.

As of the lillies I have now that I've had bloom, the attraction is my favorite, I have 2 and think I may need to split one or both next year. Actually probably should have split some this year but am kind of leary about doing it so I didn't.
Koidaddy, secret for the pictures or the lillies, pictures I try to have a sunny day and get ground level, the rest might be luck, but thanks for the kudos. Still trying to get the great koi shots.

Marla, doyou have tropical lilies? How doyou over winter them?

Jackie, I did get a couple this year from a forum buy, but they ended up to be more like plantlets. So when I get them out of the pond in the next week or so, I'm going to just bring them in I think and put them in a tub/aquarium, and put them in the sunroom, I even may try to winter the anacharis this year like that. Still debating on what I'm doing so I may change my mind.

I've given up on tropical lilies, they have never overwintered for me. Turn to mush. Even in August here the prices are about 40.00 each.
I've heard that the tropical lilies are just as hard to overwinter indoors as hyacinths. I'm still tempted to try them, but they are an awful expensive annual if you can't keep them from year to year.
My lilies did fine this year, being their first year, they bloomed most of the summer. I'm so jealous of your reds, I've never had success with red lilies. I've tried so many different times, they send up leaves, but not nearly as prolific as yours and I'm lucky to get a couple of blooms all summer, so for the present, I've given up on reds. Your lilies are stunning. Has anyone tried water hawthorn?....I'm thinking of giving one a shot next year.

Tropicals are expensive, and if I didn't get them very cheap going in on the forum buy I did, I also would probably not have one. I'm going to just try to keep them in an aquarium or rubbermaid container in our sunroom for the winter, none blumed this year and so I'm going to give it my all to get them growing good for next year, wish me luck! As for the reds only the Almost Black is one I'd consider red, the Attraction is a ver nice dark pink.

Water hawthorne is great. I had it bloom on Christmas day!!! Can't find it so if you do let me know where. I thought I had brought it with me from the old pond but .... sadly it is not here. Blooms spring and fall but is dormant winter and hot summer. Trul;y a cold water plant.
I've seen it at Humber Nurseries. Not sure if they still have some or not, it's been 3 or 4 weeks since I've been over there. I check next time I'm in.
