I planned to make an indoor pond in the basement. However, because it's a new home and an indoor pond produces a lot of moisture, it may cause some warrantee issues in the future. So, I changed my plan, and here it is.
Like I promised to Newbie, I give Speedy a nice home.
I think it's about 5000gal (13X9X6) but no bottom drain or fancy equipment though (gotta go back to school and don't have enough time & money :( ).

here are some bonus pics.
Since I've moved all pond fish to outside, I've transformed my 110 gallon tank, which temporarily stored my koi, into a tropic fish tank.
There are images of the tank before transformation (from my previous thread).

Thank you guys :) for lovely comment.
But the pond is not done yet. I will probably make a water fall with some brick under the deck next spring. Also, need more residents...may bring them from Terri's place this coming spring as well.
Yes, the yellow blurry guy is Speedy!!. Haven't got a better picture yet..sorry~
will take better one this weekend.
To be honest with you Jackie, I didn't do much of digging this summer, neither. Around my new house, many builders are constructing brand new home like crazy, and I "accidently" became a friend with a guy who can control "digging machine" (I don't know what it is called, sorry). So, I paid him like $75 to dig my backyard when he was in a lunch break one day. It made my life whole lot easier. lol
The fish in the tank is called Electric Yellow lab, one of the African Chiclids. I have 9 of them. I also has 1 P. demasoni, 2 M. patricki (also, African chiclids) and 1 pleco but they are little bit shy from the camera. You can find more information from here :

(They actually have a section for Koi too, but I don't think they are accurate, nor interesting. I think experts like you guys should give them some more comments on the beauty of koi keeping  )

Sweetie, the pond will never be done... don't kid yourself LOL ;-)
Awsome score on the pond digging!
Never got into Africans, they are pretty but I prefer a more 'peaceful' tank LOL South American Dwarf cichlids are my choice... mind you not all Africans are 'agressive', I have some Kribs that are nice and 'tame'. I swear I could have a 100 aquariums I love the fish - but the work!

How lucky to get the guy and so cheap!!! Finally a bonus for buying a house in a construction zone. All mine have been older homes, this one is the newest at over 50 years. Terri is right, ponds and yards and houses are never finished.
Terri I'm not sure those fish you gave me are peaceful.... or perhaps that is why I now have them....

yep~it's always good to know new people and make friends.
I totally agree with you. After you got something done, other stuff comes into your mind. Finite time and money; but, infinite desire to get better. lol
It was really difficult to choose between Krib and Malwani chichlids (I loved colour of Kribs but since they require different water parameters, I couldn't keep them both). Anyway, Kribs became my very close second choice so I went with these aggressive guys. BTW, I actually like agressiveness ..there is always an action going on among the groups.

Where are you going to put the waterfall?

Well, I don't have any specific plan yet but it will probably be near the edge of the deck. So, basically the water flow beneath the small deck and fall at the edge of it. As you can see, there is not much space left for the fall and this is the problem with brand new homes these days...not enough space in their backyards.
About stocking koi, I was just kidding. :) There is no way I could get that many like Chris or Terri...I think about 3~4 more koi would be enough for me since I won't have much time to take care of them.

You could do a nice fountain water fall off the wall of house. Many designed made or do one yourself. The rectangle shape of the pond already gives it a formal look, this would just continue it. Just stay away from the copper ones, copper is bad for fish.

Yes, actually, that's brilliant idea (better than mine). Now I understand why people hire professonals to do their landscapes. Thank you for the tip, Jackie. :)

You are quite welcome. Another idea that would work is a spray bar along the house side. Although I feel this may be more maintenance... all those little holes filling with algae... but good prefiltering would prevent that.
