Jackie how do your grapes do? I planted two Concord grapes this year, my plan was to plant them near a arbor in the back yard, however the grapes came before the arbor was built so I planted them in a raised planter near the house... I heard they survived in zones 3...

Do they take transplanting okay?

Do they have special wintering needs?

How long before they actually get grapes?

JoJo I am sad to say the grapes came with the house and I have been trying to kill them off since. So they are pretty hardy :lol: They are also quite weedy in that they spring up everywhere and are chocking out the cedar hedge and the small trees. The birds plant the seeds everywhere.

It think it is 3 years for fruit but am not positive. Certainly not in the first year but store bought ones are already a few years old so I'd expect fruit next year.

Well as long as you are prepared with a good set of clippers you'll be fine. Also be prepared to share with the birds and the raccoons. My neighbour swears they are best after the first frost, extra sweet.
