Just wanted to share some great news with everyone. I got home from work yesterday and checked the mail, like I do every day. There was a letter from the township. At first I though it was our propety taxes or maybe the building permit for the work in the backyard. But to my surprise it was a letter saying that our property has been nominated for the Communities in Bloom Compition. The winners will be recognized at the Festival of Flowers Awards Ceremony on July 6th. I couldnt believe what I was reading. It is one of the best compliments a gardener could get. People try for years to be nominated. Here are a few pics

How wonderful. Quite a thrill to be sure. Certainly your beautiful garden deserves first prize.

Thank you both for those kind words. Its funny, never crossed my mind that the garden would be nominated. I just do what I do because I enjoy it and it brings me joy to see things grow. Its nice to see that other people enjoy it to.

One thing that I have learned is that if you do it with love, it shows.
Certainly does in this case.

Well we didnt win but it was a great hounor to be 1 of 40 nominated out of a city of 21,000. The city band played outside on the garden patio. The dinner was great. how ironic is this, we had white fish !wow! wine, cold salads and cookies for dessert. My bosses gardens were also nominated. I have to say its hard to compete with someone who pays $200,000.00 YES THATS RIGHT  to do thier front and back yard. I bet they dont have as much fun in thier garden as I do in mine though. All in all it was a good night. May be next year after the pond and landscaping is done we will try again. Just for the fun of it of course

It is a thrill to be nominated, but better to win !rofl They have different categories here for different garden styles. Also commercial properties have their own section.
