Water Quality

How do you ascertain that your water quality is good in the pond ? Do you go through all the various water testings that are out there...do you have your own system for maintaining good water quality ? I would appreciate what you do to maintain good water quality in your pond.

I use the drop test kits to test the water but weekly water changes and skimmer and filter maintenance are the real way to have good water.

A 10% weekly change or a 20% biweekly change also larger change outs a couple of times a year. I usually do a big change in spring and another big change in fall. At some point in the summer we lower the water and do a rebuild of plant placement etc, so this is also a big water change. This year it seems we will lower the water to catch babies!!!
