Hi, everyone
I am a beginner for koi keeping. Well, I started this hobby about 3 years ago but I refer myself as a beginner b/c I am not a serious koi person who keeps very expensive show quality koi. Anyway, I had power problem about a year ago and lost 11 koi. I have only one left and think it's time to get some more for this lonely guy. I tried to get 50 unculled koi from e-bay but they delivered all dead fish (also, they are very expensive for unculled koi due to shipping cost  ). So I decide to get some resonable priced koi from my local area.
I am looking for about 10 small koi (less than 5"). If you have some koi fries which you haven't culled yet or have baby koi, please let me know.

Welcome, yes do tell us about your pond. Our good Terri has koi for sale and her prices are very reasonable.

Sorry, where are my manners... :-)
I made a pond about 3000 gallon (10'X10'X6') about 3 years ago but recently moved to new home. There is not much space in the back yard so that I am making indoor pond which will be about 2000 gallon (12'X12'X2'). I have a pressurized filter(don't remember the brand name...sorry) with a submersible pump (Tetra Dynatec 2250) set up. Also, 2 submersible (Aquarius 4 Fountain Pump-160GPH) pumps for decorative purpose. I am expecting to get my liner next week and until then, I was going to put the koi in my aquarium (110gallon) for quarantine.
It's very nice meeting you guys, too.
ps: I visited "CanadianKoiandPond" site (Terri guy's  ) on April and found several cheap koi ($15~$20) with very nice pattern and coloration. Last week, I check the site again, and those that I picked in my mind are now about $40ish.

:frisbee: Well some one has to pay for all the food that the fish ate since April. There's that old saying, he who hesitates is lost. or sumsuch
Seems we are getting a few members who are building indoor ponds. You may want to check Hugo's threads about his inside pond.

yeah...I should act fast, but I was too afraid to make a move... :(
Well, the wierdest thing is that only the fish I liked become expensive. But I think their future are bright, and they deserve those price range. (I highly doubt that one fish ate $25 worth of food in a month  )

AW but have you seen the fish in person... they are hungry devils demanding to be fed every time you enter the room. Splash you if you don't!
You can't go wrong with Terri's fish. I have a few and they eat like elephants.

Hello jaelee, welcome to the board.
Jackie has a point, the longer the fish are here the more cost we encure for their keep - if/when you visit I'll show you our food bill  ;-) if that doesn't floor you I'll dig out the hydro bill. We are not your 'typical' dealers, while the fish are here they are treated like our pets, we know each and every one... they are a lot of work and they are spoiled!
Having an indoor pond sounds wonderful! I do hope once your finished you will post some photo's :-) Ian keeps 'joking' that he's going to build an addition of the back of the house around our pond... if he ever does I won't argue LOL

Hi, Terri.
Seriously, I didn't mean to say that your price are high... I was saying that I found several nice koi with low price on your web site (really, I expected you to raise the price for them b/c you could see they will be great). For example, the first two row of $40 range koi used to be on the other page ($15~20) but I could not understand why you put them in such cheap price range.
BTW, do you have any cheaper ($15~20) butterfly koi? Last year, you posted many nice looking small butterfly but now I can see only big with $30~60.
I also want to see that Ian's project if it is real :-)

Photo's need updating on the site... those are from Feb/Mar 06 - some changes have happened with most. ..but I could not understand why you put them in such cheap price range. 'Cause I'm insane  Seriously tho, the fish are quite young when we bring them in, and in the time spent here we can watch and have a better judgement on where an individual is going... we do our best to give them the best for their development.
Last years butterfly were small, this years lot were larger. More are on the way in a few weeks...
Ok, 'nuff, I'm breaking my own rules of the board here!! !rofl

Hi zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzman  Hope all is well with you! Got any wakin you can send to Canada..? ;-)
Hi jaelee,
I see your from the Wasaga beach area. I am in tha Owen Sound area. Can you tell me a bit about your pond. I might have a small 4" Kin Matsuba mutt you could have. His name is speedy. He is now hand feeding quite well and needs a bigger home. Here is a pic if your interested. He is the black and yellow one second from the top. The black and orange one is Magma he use to be one of Terri"s. He is the first one I got from her drove 4 hours to get him and four Wakin gold fish. He was not my first choice, but like you I hummed and hawed and missed out on the one I really wanted. Gotta be fast because the good ones go even faster. By the way Magma was a great addition to the family. He is the one who help to bring the others around to hand feeding :)

I "tried" to buy 'bait' b/c I was so stupid. Like I mentioned earlier, I am a beginner so that did not know much about the culling process. I am glad it did not work out. (I feel bad about those poor koi though... :( )

Well, I can wait a couple of month to add more koi. After all, I have waited more than a year, and I am sure my koi wants beatiful company instead of ugly from Big Al's...lol I just hope you will bring many small koi this time.
Hi, Newbie.
You have very beautiful collections !wow! . I talked about my situation on the top (making indoor pond now, have 110g aquarium for temporary use). I need your contact number and address. I want to visit you next week if it is okay with you.

I'd get rid of that fish to, it looks just like my original fish that is nothing but a pain in the butt to me . He will be 16 this year... nasty thing, should have given him away years ago. I keep trying to give him to Terri but she's too smart to take him.
I know what your talking about Jackie, of all my fish I would have to say that speedy is the pain in the butt of the bunch. Loves to jump out of the pond. holding tank and the bucket.
Hi Jaelee.
Im home every night by 4:00 pm and on the weekend (except Mon Night) Theres no rush he has more room now then in the holding tank. If the big pond is done before your inside pond its not a problem he can stay in the small one with a buddy.Drop me a line at peggylee0@rogers.com and your phone # and I'll call with directions, Would be nice to meet someone in the general area that has the same interest. People in my town with koi seem to be, (how can I say this nicely) a little unfriendly. By the way welcome to the board, Everyone has a great wealth of knowledge and good advice to follow if you need help with anything.

I don't want to disappoint you, Newbie...but Wasaga beach is not my permanent address. My parents are buiding a new home in Toronto, but the closing has been delayed so I am spending my summer in my parents' cottage.
About your "unfriendly" neighbour...I think it's b/c they live near the water. You can catch huge fish whenever you want and it's free!! (although you need equips and license but it's comparatively cheaper than keeping koi, right? ) Well, I am the only one in my family who like koi and stuffs; others are very 'unfriendly' about it.
Their logic about koi: Fish = Food, Fish that is inedible = garbage
Anyway, all I need to do is cover the wooden frame with rubber liner now. But since I will visit Terri's place in Aug, I decide to buy the liner from her at that time. Why waste money on shipping cost so I've just cancelled my order. It means that my new pond will be ready in late Aug but I am sure two koi can live in 110g aquarium for couple of months.
