Well spring is here and the pond garden is looking nicer, still some clean up to do. On the left you can just see the start of the greenhouse plants being hardened off before going out for the summer.

Looks great Jackie. You must be pleased with all the work you have done. You would never know you live in the city from the pics.

Well a work in progress and progress is slow for the rest of the garden. I keep forgetting to add pond time to everything in the summer. Seems a moment watching the fish is really an hour in real life. No wonder nothing gets done.

Dreading try to dig out that miscanthus grass... what was I thinking when i planted it... !bonk

First lily pads have hit the top of the water

One of my favourite combinations for-get-me-nots and foam flowers growing under the grape arbour, and the scent is heavenly

Thanks Chris.

Terri, it seems we are having the opposite problem. This is a June plant and it will be finished long before June hits. As we walked the garden today we spoke of all the plants that were gone for another years, sad in its own way.

Chris I just brought some lilacs in last night, not quite open then but are opening quickly. The trilliums have opened now, thought they had passed and the saucer magnolia as you can see is in bloom but the star magnolia is finished.

This is the tree peony flower today

I'm so glad it bloomed for you  I hope it really is a Japanese iris.

I may be asking for some in the future when yours needs to be divided, mine were ALL taken when the guys showed up for spring clean out!!! I'm usually here when the show up but this year I was at work. They didn't trim and "thin" they TOOK ... every single one of my seven blooming irises, my red leafed lobilia, arrowhead, all of my overgrown pseudacorus and more. My stream area is totally bare! I felt worse than when I was burglurized!

Of course I called and complained !bonk I know they don't toss the plants, they plant new ponds with them or pot 'em and sell them. I was assured I would get my irises back... we'll see.

Charla they are definately Japanese or perhaps louisianna Iris, the blooms were a bit small and got damaged in a major wind and rain storm... They are such a dark purple as to be almost black. I even have aplace cleared by the pond for them and will gladly send some back if you don't get yours back. How rude of them!!! And its not like they didn't know what they were doing, probably hoping you wouldn't notice. They had better give you a nice water lily or extra to make up for it

Sorry Chris, no dried up koi earrings, oh Yuck, how could you even think such a thing!!! Although i may make a pair if you promise to wear them....

Hard not to notice when you go from planted to bare naked stream and fall. :-? Oh well, Eric is a very astute business man and he said he would take care of it this coming Wednesday. Mine were very dark this year too and had much larger blooms than last year ... maybe when yours get settled in they'll enjoy your pond and really out do themselves trying to live up to the rest of your pond.

How did the Epi's do? Several of mine are blooming and others are full of buds. My Angel Trumpet is blooming, sunflowers are doing their thing and I have lily's in the pond. Ahaaa,Spring

Hopefully he will bring you a nice variety of iris and plant them up for you. Yes it would be hard not to notice a truck full of plants and none in the pond....

The epi's are alive and are quite fat but they have not produced anynew shoots or buds. I've moved them outside now and assume they like a sunny location. Now they get morning sun so they don't get scorched.

The lily pads hit the top of the water this week, no buds as yet but soon I am sure. If the algae doesn't choke them. I have to repot just about everything and get the baskets planted up. I thought I'd be ahead this year but it seems I am behind as usual.

Charla, here is the iris in bloom. A louisianna perhaps as Japaese usually have larger blooms. Or it could be being kept in the greehouse allwinter... Thank you, they are a wonderful addition to my pond. I have cleared a space for them and am waiting for them to finish blooming before I move them.
