Well I have one fish with his scales sticking out. He did the same last year and recouped in warmer water. So far he is the only one looking a bit off this spring but this is the time of year troubles appear. This pic is from last year but he looks much the same this year.

I remember that, I was having some fish problems then also. But your great talents and care brought him around last year. Hope the same holds true this year, always someone in the bunch that needs that special attention. Maybe this one will have to come in for the winters also.

Now you've made me feel guilty as I had planned on leaving him in the pond and see how he does. The hotel is full at present and the temps promise to be warm all week... but as usual I'll be keeping an eye on him while I think of how I will handle him if he has to come out. As long as he is up and swimming around with the others he's not that bad off. If you remember the thread from last year you'll not I nearly killed him several times. !bonk

Ah, but you didn't, I remember him getting better then the scales poping agian, you pulled him through. Keep an eye, maybe the warm temps will help the water, does this one like to coast on the surface when the sun is warming up the water?

There were all moving around this morning but I didn't get a good look at Spice who was lower down but moving. Water temp was 45F

Last week he did not have this problem so I hope the warm weather will help him through this.

Last year he jumped into the too warm water smashed his side up real bad and then got poked with the net hard a couple of times cuz i thought he was dead... no he is best in the pond unless he gets worse. Seems I can't handle the fish without damaging them.

Poor Spice... he doesn't like this time of year does he? I echo marla's thoughts that he may need to be housed indoors for winter in the future... this seems to indicate a 'cronic' condition (?), perphaps his thresh hold for the water perameters/conditions this time of year is very very low. Jackie, you may know what I'm thinking but I won't mention it - hate to be a downer ;)

One side is down today so he seems better. Sissy fish! :frisbee:

Will be easier to see later in the day when they come up to the top. Right now they are half way down until I peer and them then they go to the bottom and look up at me.

Mr. Goosbumps came and took a bit of shrimp out of my hand twice this afternoon so I think he will be fine in the long run although he is a sorry looking mess right now.

Not the best pic but you can see his scales are down from what they were.

MsDoodle is looking fine this spring. I'm amazed that she still have her fat bump on her head after winter but then so does Bullet.
